WTF was up with his extended 2nd round flurry? Ive NEVER seen anything like it and i knew he wasnt going to overwelm Jesus in the first place lol. And i knew Soto wasnt really THAT hurt. Little conspiracy theory says that Bob Arum told him pre-fight to go full turbo in the 2nd to get the crowds going cuz the Rigondeaux fight lulled them to sleep. Maybe 500K in his hand? Just speculation - but the extended attack was VERY UNUSUAL to see, cuz you know he was going to permanently fatigue himself at the rate and length he was going.... I honestly have never been too impressed by Mike Jones to tell you the truth. Theres been a good bit of hype that had been going on here about him and thats alright. He's been a great prospect. But he always falls short of exptectations in tough fights, when he takes a step up. SOMEHOW, he eeked a win over a gatekeeper. Personally, i feel Jones won rounds 1, 2, 9, 10. Soto won the other ones because Mike was FREAKING GASSED OUT after round 2. He finally started to recover in round 8. I feel he's still a great talent, but his build is WAY TOO BIG to be effecient at that weight class, and it showed somewhat. EVEN if a conditioned fighter does an extended flurry like in the 2nd round, they would recover after 2 rounds - but he never did. TOO much muscles eating up TOO much oxygen. What was a robbery was that the Jose Benavidez jr. fight should have been starred in the PPV, not a lousy Mike Jones fight who scraped by a gatekeeper lol. That d00d is gonna be the next P4P king in 2 yrs.... Whats your folks opinions on the matter?
I agree overall. That 2nd round was insane. Talk about laying it all on the line just to get the KO. Jones got lucky though that the judges bailed him out, he lost that fight 6-4 on my card as well.
it wasn't a robbery like I've read from some people, it was a close fight that could have gone either way. as for the that flurry in the 2nd round, he went way overboard on that and almost lost the fight due to it. he's a good prospect but I'm not expecting too much out of him, he has a huge build with skinny legs, I think stamina will be an issue quite a bit and though I'm not even sold on Berto yet, I think Berto beats Jones kind of easily now
Soto-Karass was very unlucky. Arum made sure his new hype job got the win. Hope the fight between Jones and Kell Brook gets made. Both pack a punch!
