Between 1989-1991 Jackson looked great, and, McCallum (who was quite a bit older) was starting to slow down. It would have been an intriguing fight. Maybe a slight edge to McCallum. But, frankly, none of the other titlists wanted any part of Jackson at that time. It was not until a few years later that a young, hungry McClellan finally stepped up to the plate.
I don't think too much changes. McCallum was always technically better, and his solid defence and granite chin negates Jackson's biggest asset.
I give Jackson a real chance.....I think JJ"s boxing attributes have become overshadowed with the sands of time and the misconception he was a brawler. He was a master chess player.......by that I mean he wasn't the kind of fella who was gonna dance and jab...but he knew how to maximise his biggest asset....power...by finding that 1 Chink In the armour...that 1 opening and BOOM.......most guys didn't have that eye...that fighting brain to spot that 1 weakness.....no one at that point had done it to Graham or norris.....both were outboxing him.....or so they thought...but for sure Jackson played possum...he was a master at it.....not even sugar rays could conjure that 1 second moment vs norris At light mw from beating in chul back, buster Drayton to dejesus to Terry norris each one of those title fights ended by one single punch...... Thats a helluva thing....... than the Graham one punch knockout over a defensive master. Mccallum was hurt by Don Curry and Milton Mcrory was bouncing shots off his face for 7 rounds.....with JJ he would maximise such openings despite Mccallums great chin. I predict Jackson knocks Mccallum out in 6
McCallum beats Jackson 10/10. Only advantage Jackson had was power and McCallum neutralizes that with a granite chin
