I know a lot of people have said that McCallum was past his prime when he fought Toney. Now a days a lot of fighters are still in their peak at 35 yrs. old, so did it matter in their fight or would have a younger McCallum be able to beat James Toney convincingly?

I think it plays out in 1988 pretty much as it did in 1991 I guess, yeah. The prime McCallum was a 154-pounder and Toney was a middleweight, so it's kind of moot, really.

yeah but Toney was also inexperienced when he fought Mike the first time and held his own. When he got more experienced he was more effective. So the question is a prime Toney vs. a Prime McCallum and I go with Toney in a decision.

Neither McCallum or Toney were in their prime at 160 pounds.
