I'm suprised this fight never happened. I predict McCallum on points. Thoughts?

McCallum was better and did better v Jones even though he was much older than Johnson was when he too fought Jones at 168, McCallum also fought Jones at a weight far higher than his prime 154 fighting prime and his body looked far softer than Johnson`s did at 168 v Jones, Mike also beat better fighters despite his fight v Curry being at 154, he also beat Jackson at that weight where he was lethal.

Mc Callum SD. Considering Mike had trouble with Kalambay twice, this would be a difficult fight for him

What does any of this have to do with the fight in question?

Yes, it's a fight that could have occurred. I'll pick Mike by decision, a level or two above.

But Kalambay was more talented than Johnson

He was. But Johnson was younger and quicker than the Kalambay Mike beat in the rematch.

Just saying McCallum was better in terms of being proven but head to head it would be close keeping in mind all their common opponents and the performances they gave respectively in those fights.

Around 1991 it's a difficult fight to call. Both gave Toney a very close nip and tuck fight, and I don't think anyone is running away with this one.

Reggie had a good chin, and was not decisively beaten until he fought Jones. On the flip side, nearly all of his big fights at middleweight were close enough to have a debate one way or the other. The Guthrie KO aside, he generally didn't overwhelm people with his offense.

McCallum was clearly the historically better fighter, but to me this is a close fight where the styles don't mesh too well. The more likely result is that McCallum squeaks a win with cleaner punching in the championship rounds.

I think McCallum wins a competitive, yet deserved decision.

Reggie is one of those fighters who gets better the longer he has been retired.

That said, he was always a hard fight in his prime. I would bust out the popcorn for this one and watch the science unfold. To me, this would be entertaining as he'll. Maybe not to Morlock or others.

Mike by close decision. Is there another choice?

Agreed. Reggie might take one in a trilogy perhaps.
