Mike McCallum v. Terry Norris

Of course.

I look at it like this: At their best, which is how most people judge how good someone is at the fundamentals (skills) he was awesome. He had one bad attribute, but many great ones.

 

Norris.

Like other's mentioned, decision & Mike just cannot land enough body shots on the guy to slow him down. And those were wide body shots he threw in there & Norris is definately countering those punches.

I think Norris respects the guy going in & plans on a distance bout. He'd be aware of the durability factor with a McCallum and would just box and pile up the points. Kind of like the Simon Brown rematch except a guy like McCallum comes on stronger at the end. He'd just be too far down on the cards & this isn't a Sean Mannion in there.

Nice matchup though & it just seemed like that 154 class had a ton of potential terrific matches and very few were ever made. And we're not talking rematches---that would have been Norris alone.

 

Norris was good until he got clipped. McCallum would catch him and beat him.

 

McCallum would destroy Norris.

 

I go with this. No way is MM not stopping Norris imo.

This is a great fantasy matchup. Norris had everything, (except for maybe the chin). When he stuck to boxing, kept his cool, he could outbox and beat the best fighters in the world, but he was also very unpredicatable. He had issues with fouling. Going into slugger mode and getting knocked down by Waters, then getting KO'ed by Brown should not have happened. Norris fell in love with his power at that point and thought he'd mow everyone down like he did with Meldrick Taylor. His chin wasn't made to fight like that. He made strategic errors there.

McCallum was a great fighter and very dependable. I never thought he was a tremendous puncher, but he hit accurately.

There's a chance he could catch Norris on the chin late, but I think I think if Norris sticks to boxing on the outside, he wins a decision.

 

McCallum breaks Terry down to a stoppage or surprise KOs him ala Curry.

 

McCallum in a come from behind KO win. Norris’s chin and his inability not to get drawn into an unnecessary brawl would be his undoing.

 

McCallum is beating both Hearns and Norris.

Norris´ weak chin might let him down á la Curry but I think this fight will resemble more the McCrory bout.

Mike came from losing the early rounds to ground down Milton for a dominante tenth round ko.
