    Nunn.

Bigger, and a touch more talented.

It's arguably, if technicians are your thing, the greatest fight to never happen from that era.

Mike is better than Nunn in everything other than hand speed.

I think Nunn sweeps the early rounds but Mike closes stronger and forces the ko.

Nunn was more talented and he had a strong aura in 1988/1989/1990 but overall he was overrated...he struggled with a totally shot Don curry it was dead even for 8 until size took over and curry quit a fight he may even have been winning.

Of course a shot curry outboxed mccallum most their fight too but the way I look at it,if Iran Barkley could push nunn, mike beats him

    I'd have preferred hearns or Duran v nunn.or julian jackson-nunn...srl v nunn....Hagler v nunn...such a great era mw"s 1987-1990

Nunn on pts. He would utilize movement, defense and ring generalship. Mike McCallum never showed the footspeed at middleweight to trouble prime Nunn.

Nunn was already slipping when he fought Curry. Prime Nunn was 86-the Kalambay fight in '89

Michael Nunn was the man for a period, like most gifted fighters do, he got ahead of himself and started to take shortcuts and think their talent will always prevail. James Toney was his speedhump, after winning the first 5 or 6 rounds, he started to drop his intensity and get into close exchanges that ultimately was his down fall. At the end of his career his had 50 odd fights and was only clearly beaten once. McCallum at his prime was a beast but every boxer has their nemesis. Both at their prime would be a fight i would like to see.

Nunn was not overrated. He's one of the best to ever do it.

Is it over 15 or 12? 15 rds would be an advantage for McCallum, 12 would be an advantage for Nunn.

    i wouldve preferred Nunn-leonard also

whose fault was it the fight didnt happen?

    be honest

the fight couldve been made immediately after Kalambay

but this is the same Ray Leonard who backed down from Pryor (whom I believe wouldve totally cleaned Leonard's clock)

this is the same leonard who lacked the heart to make one defense of his wbc middleweight title, then went looking for a fight with Lalonde

the same leonard who waited 5 years for Hagler to decline

and the same leonard who got his clock cleaned by Norris

    If anything, LEONARD was overrated

btw, do you think Mike was overrated for acing Sumbu in one?

Always wondered why this fight didn't happen when these two were fellow title holders back between 1989-1991. Unifications were sometimes hard to come bye. My vote is a close decision for Nunn but I wouldn't count out McCallum. His defensive skills and ability to work the body were superior to anything Nunn had ever seen to that point.

Agree Nunn would have beaten McCallum
Agree Nunn in '89 would have beaten Leonard at that time

But, then you lost the plot with your typical anti-Leonard diatribe. LOL

You just can't keep it out of threads that have nothing to do with Leonard, can you?
