Pernell Whitaker only fought at 154 once when he won against Julio Cesar Vazquez. How well do you think Whitaker would do against a full fledge LMW like Mike McCallum? Could Whitaker be able to do a similar job like Kalambay or would McCallum be too big and smart for even someone as skilled as Whitaker?

McCallum by stoppage. Pernell was never put under the bodysnatching pain from a great body basher who could box also. Plus he has nothing to hold Mike off.

McCallum wins, I have no doubt.

For me, the real question is if it goes the distance.

Yeah, at this weight and point in time I think Pea would get stopped too

    Agreed with the consensus.

    McCallum stops Pea at 154.

I doubt he would stop Pea, but he would beat Pea.

Would be the first stoppage loss of Whitaker s career imo. Mike would eventually grind him down with lethal body shots. Sweet pea would succemb and be dropped hard.
    McCallum by 9 rnd KO

People are acting like Mike was some great mover and stalker. Pea isn't going to be letting Mike just unload to the body on him. He'll probably fighting off his backfoot a lot and usually lots of movement. Just don't see him getting KO'd thanks to Mike's more plodding style, and Pea's superb movement. He would lose though

I don't think Pea beat Vazquez. And tho Vazquez is criminally underrated, McCallum is a step up.

    Good matchup.

I think Mike is a little too big and strong for Pernell.

Pernell's awkward movement would trouble McCallum.

Mike would try to cut off the ring and work the body.

Pernell would have absolutely nothing to hurt Mike with, so Mike could take chances.

I feel like Mike would dominate the late rounds for a UD.

McCallum is on another level than Vasquez at 154 and I think would be a bit too much for Whitaker.
