I love Vernon. But there's no way he beats Mike McCallum. That's way too much to ask. McCallum's too damn good at 154. It might be a good fight early on but the naturally bigger(in build), smarter, stronger fighter will break his man down, and probably with quite a bit of time to spare. Very different leagues of 154-pounder. Forest was legit, but McCallum was great.
Vernon controls the early rounds with his jab, but McCallum works his way in and breaks Forrest down. I too like McCallum by 9th-round stoppage.
At JM Forrest was a very good fighter ,but no longer an elite type, like he was at WW.. I dont think he had the same power, and his chin wasaverage at best as a jM.... Iagreee with the other posts... He fights Mccallum on even terms,or even takes a sligh lead in the early rounds..BUt Mccallum eventually slows him down,,the walks him down... Mccallum ko 8.
WTF have you got against the late Vernon Forrest who was a good man who did plenty of charity work? Can't he get a break and pummel Mayweather, Delahoya and Pacquaio instead?
I get the feeling no matter how good Forrest could look early on, it'd always end the same way. Like everyone else, I'll say McCallum wins inside the distance.
