Yeah he is. I was mabye somewhat harsh in my earlier assesment. However, Hearns at 154 was something else. It was his best weight imo. I see his boxing skills taking this one.
I do. Mabye not mid rounds though now I have given it some thought. But I definatly could see it late.
Nobody stopped Mike McCallum he had a oliver McCall type chin.It would be more likely the he would stop hearns.McCallum was the 154 version of Hagler.:bbb
I don't think McCallum was ever stopped. In all honesty, Hearns can win a boxing match with anyone. If McCallum gets to him, I think Hearns is the one who gets stopped. His body punching is second to none.....in any division.
I agree with McCallum being able to stop Hearns. I also agree about his body attack. I can see it on accumulation from Hearns. I think he was the best 154 fighter ever. Bar the chin.
yeah brilliant fighter. one of me favourites actually. check out toney 1, watson, curry, jackson and graham fights.
I am very proud to say that I sparred with Mike McCallum out in Las Vegas just before he left for London to fight Michael Watson. If I remember correctly that fight got canceled a few days later and was rescheduled
McCallum was a great fighter, he beat a prime Graham on foreign soil, disposed of 29-0 Julian jackson in 2 rounds in an all out war, and basically gave the next generation (toney, Jones) all they could handle and more.
mccallum was robbed in the 2nd fight with toney. awful decision from the judges. toney did sod all in that fight. i had mccallum edging the 1st fight as well.
Mccallum was the most underrated boxer ever. In my top 10 best fighters period. The only thing he lacked was speed but he wasnt slow either, watch his fight with Don Curry
