I agree with Your oppinion. how about Holyfield vs Tua about 97/98 and again in about 2002-2004

That's a tough one. I know they sparred a ton. Maybe someone who saw those sessions could say better. I think Vander's output and beard in 97 might see him through. But I think even a 2002 Tua might be able to stop him. Tough call.

I hear alot of stories of fighters fighting with broken hands, and torn rotator cuffs, i have a torn rotator at the moment, and the pain im in putting a hoddie on with the zip open is out of this world, yet Vitali can push a 210 and 240 HW around is unbeliveable, the way they pull his gloves off after the Byrd fight is total bs, i remember when i broke my hand and i felt so weak and couldnt even clench it. as for holyfields suspected heart problem, he healed it with a faith healer, haha.

there was 5 knock downs in the RM with Holyfield, Holys style was all wrong for Mike.

Moorer had pretty freakish power that he carried all the way up to the big boys and he was a skillfull puncher but he boxed inconsistently, had horrible defense, and wasn't the quickest guy.

Sadly, outside of scarping by an injured Evander for the title he really didn't do a whole lot with his career. Didn't do much at LHW, and his best second tier wins are over Cooper, Stewart, and Botha. :think

I agree with lufcrazy that he might belong a little below guys like Ike, Tua, and Byrd.

I would still rank him over Bruno though :)

Lewis only got one decent southpaw and that was Tua, he is just a wrecking ball/Brick wall, he wasnt really fast, isnt slick and Lewis never went inside on him trying to knock him out he just stayed on the outside Vs Moorer he wouldnt stay on the outside, and once he got into the Middleground or the inside, Moorer could bite, I pull for Lewis in this fight but mike has alot of stylistic advantages just his below average chin lets him down.

MM was world champ, and his best win was Holyfield, his best fight against a ranked contender was Alex Stewart, 27 (27) 2

Mike was spectacular against the unspectacular, where as ike was very very ordinary against the same kind of guys.

Maybe it's just me but I don't rate guys on winning performances against second raters.

Beating byrd and tua is much better than beating alex stewart.

Moorer's chin at heavyweight was just not good. It ruined his success there. He was a fast southpaw with a nice jab, but he stood right in front of guys, and if he didn't have a chin he was bound to be stopped eventually.

I don't think he beat holyfield.

Schulz and botha aren't really worth mentioning.

I don't see any stylistic advantage for Moorer. In addition to Tua, Morrison and Ruddock were guys who's best punches were lefts, and Lewis finished them off without working up a sweat. Moorer was not exactly leagues better than those guys, in fact I'd say he was on a comparable plane. Lewis would have everthing ranging from size, power, reach, better jab and quite possibly even a better chin, though the last thing I say with no real conviction.
