Ha! I knew there'd be hype hopper's like you and the person who agreed with you. Fact is, Perez was the exact same fighter in both fights, the difference was Mago was a top 25-30 type fighter and Takam top 20ish type fighter. Just fighting an exciting fight doesn't make you a top 10 fighter. Stiverne's resume and displayed skill are vastly better than Perez, Stiverne easily ko or decisions him.
I honestly think Perez was a very different fighter in the second fight. Whether that was due to psychological effects from the Mago fightm, Physical issues from the same or just being in with a better fighter I can't say for sure. I do know his punches had zero snap to them, he was pushing his punches from the start and for a fighter with limited power he threw very little. something was up and if that's the way he's going to fight moving forward he's done as a contender
Absolutely. He could even beat the occasional top 20 guy, he'd just lose to them more often. It's not entirely linear, as far as if you deserve to be ranked higher than Perez you would necessarily beat him, its more a combination of that with matchup dependency. He's got a good chin, workrate, decent power, average defense and bad size. So a good chinned technical fighter in the top 20 will usually or always beat him, especially if they have a good size advantage. His best shot in the top 20 would be against a weak chinned person who relies on power and has technical defects. I'm not a Wilder hater like some people, but he's the closest person to that description the farthest down my top 20 chart. That would be a very interesting fight and I'd probably make Perez a slight favorite.
