Mike Rossman 'Right Place/Right Time'

right place right time is bang on.rossman is one of the poorest world champs ever

 

i remember seeing the 1st fight with galindez and i couldn't believe it.i was sure, at the time that galindez had done about 10 minutes training

 

lopez fought them all at light heavy.i'm not surprised he battered rossman

 

they must have been dumb then.as i said lopez fought all of the top light heavies and missed none.he was a tough tough man:good

 

I actually always Enjoyed watching MiKe Rossman fight, Very Textbook Style, Hands Up, Elbows Tucked In, and Heavy Handed when he Beat the Fading Galindez he Employed the Perfect style with Long Jabs, Right Crosses, then Back Behind the Jab to Keep Victor Occupied, once he started mixing in some Left Hooks, you knew that they had sussed Victor was off Colour and this would be their night, It was not so easy with a motivated Victor n the Rematch, Once a fitter Victor started using some head movement to deny Mike that Arms Lenght Safety Zone, Victor was always going to be the Victor, Mike worked off the Jab, if he could peg you behind it, he could move to stage two, but if an opponent could slip the Jab and come inside, then Mike seemed Stuck in first gear, in Short a very good "On Top" boxer. i must admit, as stated, i did like his textbook style though.

I remember Ring Magazine started really banging the drum for Rossman after this fight, playing up his heritage as a "Mazeltough" champion (ugh).

 

You really need to watch more boxing if you think Rossman is one of the poorest world champions ever.He probably wasn't even in the top 5 least talented champions when he held the title.

He was vulnerable and not as talented as many of his contemporaries sure, but overall was a solid fighter imo, if only for a short time.

 

Rossman wasn't that good, but at least he was able to wrangle the WBA title from the fading, arrogant, protected Galindez. The WBA loved Galindez. He had more than a few questionable decision victories. Of course, Victor got a rematch after crying that he wasn't in shape - whose fault was that - his. But, the "daddy" WBA said "it's okay Victor, we'll fix it for you." So, the hour of the rematch with Rossman arrives. Mike is in the ring. Television is ready to show the fight. Victor, at the very last minute, cries he's not ready to fight. So, the fight is canceled. Victor gets no punishment from te WBA, and is allowed to train better, and the rematch finally occurs and of course by then Victor is in shape and beats Rossman. Fortunately, Marvin Johnson beat the crap out of Galindez in his next fight, to rid this "champion" from the top of the game for good. So, overall I have fond memories of Mike Rossman.
