I probably like Frank's chances against quite few names that on paper might be fancied to beat him, but perhaps not the quick movers, quick thinkers, quick reactor's, Frank favours a fairly set target, one he can find with the Jab as a marker beacon for the big straight right hand with perhaps the left hook then coming into play, but with frank, like most of the Lawless (trainer) bread stage one was establishing the Jab as a platform to work off of, and i think with Spinks, his Mobility and upper body Herky-Jerk will have Frank reaching..Then Spinks would probably fire off a fusillade of shots before leaving town again, For all the criticism of the Spinks Herky-Jerk...when he let his shots go a marvelous cohesion to his combinations was employed ...a big slow (by comparison) heavyweight might get not a little discouraged, particularly if the big slow heavyweight was a bit Robotic and readable, A bull vs a Hornets nest...I'll take the Hornets...could look a bit like the Spinks Vs Cooney match with Frank looking more dangerous and therefore being treated more carefully...and the fight going longer, but in conjunction with Franks less than stella stamina on big occasions, maybe Spinks circa 11th ...
Bruno always wanted the fight... But as Spinks showed against Cooney, he could deal with the limited power puncher. I take Spinks to overcome Bruno's fast, confident start to win by late stoppage.
Bruno. Spinks was only initially a heavyweight for a one fight deal. Clever to beat tired Larry first time around, knew he was extremely lucky second time around then incredibly selective thereafter. With a strapped knee. Michael knew he was limited but he took it as far as he could avoiding world class heavyweights. Tyson was not for him and neither would have been Bruno. A lot of people made a good case for spinks against Tyson but there was a reason the man himself knew his limitations at the weight and why he retired. Michael did not want to fight young world class heavyweights. He sparred Frank too. We can make a case for Michael but I have a hunch he never really wanted to be a defending champ, he just wanted to beat Larry and get out of boxing. Therefore I can't rate him against any genuine heavyweight contender. Bruno included.
I think Bruno would win a close split one against Michael, he would be a little too much for Michael.Frank would floor him a couple of times early on to seal the deal.
Spinks is a big favourite here to me. There is nothing in Bruno's past to indicate that he can beat a fighter of Spinks quality.
There is a lot of Bruno revisionism going on these days. He was good, but perhaps not good enough to beat Spinks.
Spink is too savvy. Bruno has a good puncher's chance, but I doubt he manages it. I'd favour Spinks. By stoppage.
Poor Spinks' stock really took a dive when he lost to Tyson, didn't it? Listen, Spinks was a good heavyweight and smart enough to beat Bruno convincingly.
Why did Spinks avoid Carl Williams and Tony Tucker? The Coony win was excelent but against a part time fighter.
Great lightheavyweight but at heavyweight? After Holmes spinks could only equal Anders Ekland result against Steffan Tangstead. That's Euro level against current heavyweights. Coony? I think this flatters Spinks, although I enjoyed that fight admittedly.
