One thinks he is invincible and the other knows better and fights accordingly. Tyson of the Spinks, Holmes fight vs the Tyson of the Razor/ that yr fight.? Would enjoy hearing real opinions from true Tyson fans.

Tyson was far better when he was trained by Rooney, Tyson 91 gets destroyed.

The 91 Tyson is less confident has worse defense and has accepted tremendous physical punishment by Douglas. And he no longer has his original team. He can't win.

In all honesty, the 1988 version of Mike Tyson is the best H/W I've ever seen. He was lightning quick, punched hard & in combination, had tremendous head-movement & a great chin that absorbed anything when he did get hit (which was rarely).

Plenty of guys could have beaten the 1991 version of him. He'd stopped sparring with guys who actually hit him back by then (Oliver McCall in particular) & was on a slow but steady downwards spiral. His training & sparring was a lot softer than it used to be when he was on the way up. That's when he actually bothered to turn up to training which he often didn't.

Tyson was at his very best in 1988. He beats all other versions of himself.

In a match up between 1988 and '91 versions,Don King would start off in the older man's corner and while the fight goes on,moves closer and closer to '88 incarnation's corner.

I think Tyson was better in '88, obviously, but the idea it's because of Rooney no longer reaching him is a complete joke. What, you think Tyson forgot what Rooney taught him once left? Oh, so it's because Rooney wasn't there telling him to use his skills? You think his newer trainers, which were no doubt more expensive didn't tell him exactly that? It's a pathetic excuse. If Tyson can't implement the things he was taught for years, or keep himself dedicated to his profession, then he was the problem, not Rooney.
