Prime Wlad vs. Prime Tyson who wins in a 12 round fight? On one side we got Iron Mike. Mike Tyson was a beast in his prime with Rooney. The defense, exceptional head- and upperbodymovement and his great jab to get inside were things he always had in his arsenal, before he abonded them after '88. Prime Mike was a real force to be reckon with. And on the other side we got Klitschko. Also one of the hardest Punchers in the last decades. Would Wlad win this fight with his Jab-Right-Hold tactics or would Tyson be able to get inside and create enough damage to knock him out? I got Iron Mike by KO
I think Klitschko runs away until Mike's edge drops off and then we'll be treated to a jab n grabfest until the inevitable UD. Wlad's style is a nightmare for a small fighter to deal with and even though Tyson is one of the best - he's still a small HW. The morning after, Tyson's back will hurt more than his face.
If you forced him to fight outside a pace he's comfortable with and you have the hand speed and good punching power your odds increase significantly. The trick is to make him fight and not box and as long as you have the tools he's beatable. For that reason I can't envision anything other than a Tyson (T)KO win. It's quite possible that Wlad can hold and hug Mike all night but I get the impression that Wlad is too proud a fighter and competitor to agree to just survive. Incidentally this the same reason why I would pick Joe Frazier to beat Wlad. Even if he has to get up off the canvas to beat him.
Tyson KO 1 No version of Wlad that ever existed can handle the initial Tyson attack It would look like Lou Savarese vs Tyson ... Except even more brutal and spectacular
I went with Tyson by KO. Not that this is a forgone conclusion however. Wladimir ( and Vitali ) would be very hard fights for pretty much anyone.
Tyson by early rounds. Wlad loses his composure when tagged on the chin. Tyson would find that chin enough times to end the show early.
Just putting this out there: This content is protected Old Tillis goes the distance competitively but prime Wlad gets knocked out early Cool story, guys
Klitschko don't have the mental fortitude for this fight. He'd be too panic stricken to focus. Klitschko had to have it all his own way to beat guys in the worst HW era known to man.
He was 19 and still learning. In fact, I'd argue that you'd struggle to find a 19 year old heavyweight, from any point in history, who could have beaten the Tillis that Tyson faced more impressively.
I get the point that you're making but boxing doesn't work like that - X struggled with Y so X will inevitably struggle with Z As others have said Tyson was still learning here and Tillis was up on his toes and constantly moving, Wlad even at his peak never fought like that. And if you want to use the X, Y, Z analogy then Wlad was floored I think twice and nearly stopped by Samuel Peter one of the slowest HW's I've ever seen so therefore a prime Tyson KO's Wlad right ??
LOL@ you.... Tyson still won while green , 19 years old and coming off the flu..............while your Hero WK with more fights under his belt also older was walked down by a pro Heavybag named Ross the Boss and folded like a house of cards. Tyson is all wrong for WK, he will force a fire fight not a jab and grab and once you make the K brothers fight on instinct not lean back and peck away they fold, get their faces carved up or get simply get stopped.
We all have to remember that Tyson is a smaller dude than Wladimir, the reach of Wlad is much longer and he is taller. Tyson will have a hard time trying to get close to Wlad just like in the Tony Tucker v Tyson fight, Wlad will use his reach and try his best not to get caught with some of the power of Tyson. It should be obvious that a lot of clinches will be happening either for survival or instruction from Emanuel Steward. Tyson will be going for the body most of the time and Wladimir will be screaming like a sissy. I believe it may actually become a draw depending on how many punches Wlad throws at Tyson.
