    12 rounds, smallest ring possible.

    No 3 knockdown rule.

Very lenient ref who wont stop a fight just because of a few minor bruises or the fighter is getting tagged.

Basically i want to see what people think of this matchup. Mike was world class and beat a few contenders but he clearly lost a step. Chuvalo brings his infamous chin and underrated inside fighting to the table. How does it go?

He clearly lost a step? So you were talking about a sub prime Mike Tyson? What year?

Tyson by stoppage in 2 rounds. Think of Smoking Joe with a much higher, two-fisted workrate.

Absolutely terrible matchup for past prime Tyson. Then again, Chuvalo would probably find a way to screw this up.

Tyson was finished when those fights took place. Physically and mentally finished.

I see Tyson winning a decision in a fight where things would get close in the last rounds.

There might be some parallels to a Mercer (or McCall) fight, which Lewis-Mercer might indeed have won against that Mike.

With Chuvalo's walk straight in and slug approach..it'll be only a matter of time till Mike gets off...it would be an explosive cross between Frazier's sharpness and Foreman's heavy power...whether Chuvalo will remain upright would be anybody's guess.

Tyson would win, but he would not look good doing it, and it might give the world a clue, about what was coming in the Holyfield fight.

While I respect Chuvalo's career and grit who, outside of the Quarry 'anamoly', does he have on his resume as a...real...quality win? A small Doug Jones? A fading DeJohn? A couple of other contenders past prime? One thing that I feel is true about George; his power is a tad overrated except perhaps for his body attack.
Am I wrong? Could George 'clock', big time, to the head? Patterson round 10...two or three Sunday bombs to Floyd's head. My hero went nowhere. Did Chuvalo indeed had major power? Does Patterson have a glass jaw? You can't have it both ways! :)
Mike could be hurt but, IMO, its not gonna happen against George; one sided UD or cuts stoppage or just a 'plain' stoppage like young Foreman put on him.

I'll go ahead and say it: I believe Chuvalo might either wins a close decision or stops 1996 Tyson late.

1-chuvalo isnt going anywhere. He was on his feet against foreman and never hit the deck. The frazier stoppage was due to a prior eye injury reopening. He took bombs from bonavena, quarry, and ali as well. In more than 70 professional fights he was never koed or even dropped.

You can debate prime tyson, but post prison? I dont think so.

2-1996 Tyson's power faded after round 7, and so did his stamina. Chuvalo never got tired. Granted even a past his prime tyson hit harder, but chuvalo had decent pop (maybe a 7/10). Tysons lower stamina also means a lower workrate. Its hard to win rounds if youre throwing and landing less punches than the opponent.

3-inside fighting and body punching. Its interesting hardly anyone went to the body against Tyson. A lightning berserker like him getting nailed repeatedly in the body by a dedicated body puncher like chuvalo probably wont end well. Chuvalo was as strong as a bull and pressung forward into tysons chest means he will force an infight, something tyson didnt excell at.

Overall, tyson is obviously faster, hits harder, had better defense, but i just cant seem to ignore these three factors when thinking of this matchup. Chuvalo is a dollar store Holyfield as others pointed out, but he's the exact type of fighter to give Tyson problems.

Incidentally, I know its non-cannon, but i made chuvalo in the fight night video game and let him and the computer mike tyson fight. Chuvalo did surprisingly well and thats what inspired the thread.

Tyson wins a UD where he really really looks bad in the last few rounds.

Tyson did not keep his shape in the later rounds post prison, his punches got sloppy and his defense leaked.

Pre prison vs tucker, green and Ruddock he may have been less agressive after 8 rounds and barely scored stoppages but his movements looked the same and he still had that "bounce" late in fights.

In the first 3 rounds Tyson looks electric and near prime

Rounds 4-6 Tyson still lands bombs but you wonder if chuvalo might actually make it to the final bell

Round 7-9 it gets competitive as Tyson slows down and is reduced to fighting in spots and throwing fewer combinations

Rounds 10-12 chuvalo starts mauling Tyson as Tyson is tired, throws only single bombs and tries to force clinches while chuvalo pushes him back and hurts him to the body

Tyson easily. Chuvalo is overrated .Tyson was stronger and tougher than the fragile Patterson who
could beat Chuvalo. In 1996 Tyson had remarkable punching power and decent speed and Chuvalo's quality was
    far away from Holy .

Tyson was better head to head than Frazier, but he did not have a higher work rate. The opposite is true.

    So its Tyson 96 version?
More or less the same one that destroyed Bruno and scared Seldon into submission. Not a great version of Tyson but enough to beat chuvalo .But its not a blow out for him and George goes that distance .And by the last couple of round s Tyson is looking decidedly hittable .
