TBH, as much as I hate him, I think Shannon Briggs was a good commentator on FNF.

plus the guy is a convicted ******.******?????who bit evander's ear off, who told female reporters they could only talk if they sucked him off, threatened peoples children. he is unintentionally funny as **** but the man is mentally ill, a nasty ***** and despite his feats in the ring was/is bad for the sport as a whole

Mike seems to unstable to me to keep a steady commentator job. You know he's bound to be arrested or something during a scheduled broadcast. Plus, the guy can be very hard to understand at times.

The single downside to Mike as a commentator is whether he would show up on time or be caught in personal turmoil. Keeping the schedule would be the only difficulty.

Mike Tyson is by far, hands down, the most intelligent boxing commentator I've ever heard. His understanding of the fight game is second to absolutely none. While during his career post-Catskills Team he did get involved in trash talk against his opponents, etc., he has always been very respectful of boxers other than himself. In a commentator role where he's not trying to sell one of his own fights through trash talk, he would be very tame and straightforward. Tyson has seen and thoroughly analyzed as much fight-tape as anyone in the business.

I've seen Mike in public before outside the ring and if anything he's very humble. Not one to draw lots of attention to himself like other boxers. I bet if Mike hosted the next contander, those ratings would crush most HBO, Showtime and ESPN broadcast.

 So true, how about when he Lampley asks what his scorecard is "ahk Jim, I got it 7 rounds to 1 Hopkins, Pavlik is not fighting his fight and he's in danger of needed a knockout", between that and all his weird noises he makes when he talks or gets overexcited, is too much for me.

Mike is very knowledgable when it comes to boxing, he is a historian in his own right, and that would show up on air. I dont know if anyone remembers when he used to guest commentate for HBO back in the late 80's, he was damn good, no worse than boring ass Lennox and Jones who half the time is promoting a CD or an upcoming fight of his, Tyson is alot better than these 2.

Some of the things Tyson comes out with are far more interesting to hear then your average guy. This is displayed in the fact that if gives an interview many watch. People say he's "dumb", but personally I find him more articulate then your average drone. He has opinions and expresses thoughts... he may say silly things at times - and is not cultured in some academemic aspects - but that doesn't make him "dumb" in my eyes...
