Larry Holmes defended his heavyweight championship on March 15, 1985 with a 10-round tko victory over David Bey. Just a week earlier, on March 6, Mike Tyson made his professional debut with a 1st round knockout over Hector Mercedes. Peter Rademacher was the only heavyweight to challenge for the title in his pro debut in a losing effort to Floyd Patterson by KO. Does Tyson do what his predecessor failed?
I don't know.. I don't think a guy with no fights is going to beat a Larry Holmes, but if someone could it could be Tyson. But if Tyson has trouble getting Larry out, then Larry is going to stop him about 7 rounds.. I really don't know. I do know that Tyson in his pro debut probably could beat Berbick.
Its hard to say how good Tyson was in his pro début. He was of course extremely fast for a heavy with KO power. But could he pace himself if the fight went the distance, some thing u learn only through experience. But however good /bad he was in his first fight ,there is no way he beats Holmes. Larry would survive the initial few round s ,then gradually start pumping that jab in Tyson s face .A demoralized Tyson would be KO'd around the 9 th.
