Tyson from 85 to 89 was a monster, a true ATG, after that his lifestyle wrecked his career and his ability.

 

underrated and overrated imo.

people thinking he loses to anyone who can jab or to anyone who fights back, plain stupidity imo.

people thinking he would beat every boxer alive, ridiculous.

peak tyson was 86-88. from 89-91 he still should have been the best out there but lost it to douglas.

he's an arguable top 10 atg, i have him at 11

I have to admit, after Ali and Holmes I hated seeing Mike come in and demolish the competition in 1-2 rounds. I didn't feel like I was getting my monies worth.

Tyson from '86 to '88 was an unstoppable wrecking machine. From then until his prison sentence (particularly post-Douglas) he was a very flawed, but still very dangerous fighter.

 

monies worth ? Here in the uk back in those days it was all free on terrestrial tv..how i wish those days would come back! (I can dream!).

For me Tyson in his peak years was a monster and I do for sure have him down as an ATG. If he'd have had a better head on his shoulders and not lost the plot..he could've been right up at the very top of the ATG heavyweight list. Imagine what he could've been with that speed, skill and talent!! Such a waste he burned brightest..but like always those that do that never do so for longest. Lennox was more of a slow burner...but kept burning. No point in futile arguments (odd thing to say here! ) but Tyson was a MONSTER fighter. And his archive is a legacy to watch down the years n be in awe of that ferocity n speed...i've never seen anyone like that going further back. Frazier was much more 1 dimensional IMO.

 

Perfectly posted. Most casual fans think Tyson was some indestructible force that could knock out all time greats with a single punch. That wasn't really the case but he was the youngest, he was ferocious and he was usually the smaller man in the ring. He had lightning fast hands & body/head movement not often seen on any heavyweight.

He's a def. Top 10 ATG Heavyweight, the only argument is how high on the list. :deal
