Mike Tyson had a better career than Larry Holmes.

So, you won't even admit that you LIED that Lederman said Wlad should have been disqualified?

I actually agree with Dino that Wlad likely did not chase the Sanders rematch but yeah HBO never said Wlad should have been DQed vs Peter. Sure some fans on this forum have voiced that but not HBO.

I never said that Wlad actively chased Sanders rematch. I said that they agreed on the interim fight before the rematch. This might as well been a way to not rematch Sanders.

Why do you repeatedly smear a great man like Sanders?
Says a lot about the type of person you are.

So you won't admit you lied like you always do? Still want to embarrass yourself publicly?

This fight will always be debated.

    Was it a nothing win?

    A credible win?

    A good win?

    A very good-great win?

There’s a lot of people who say that Larry was rolled off of the settee after 2 years of inactivity.

That he wasn’t interested in the fight, but then he couldn’t refuse the cheque that King dangled in front of him.

That’s what a lot of people believe.

Yet I’ve heard that he’d been negotiating for the fight for a considerable time, and that he’d had a full camp, and an exhibition match, where he was extremely motivated. I’ve even read a quote from him, saying that Mike was overrated, and that he wouldn’t be able to negate his great jab. That he was going in there to prove a point.

So I personally believe that he was prepared and motivated, and that his weight was on point.

Of course he was way past his best. However, I don’t believe that he was rolled off of the couch after 2 years of eating pizza.

So IMHO, it’s a good win. A very credible win. And especially when you consider that he was good enough to give Evander a great fight, and good enough to beat Ray Mercer, around 4 years later.

Since the fight, Larry has given interviews saying that he’d told King that he couldn’t beat him, but that he couldn’t refuse the cheque.

    Was that true?

Or was that just his dented ego, after an embarrassing defeat?

It’s very interesting to me, that out of a 75 fight career which spanned 20 years, that Mike was the only guy to ever stop him.

What do you think about it?

I consider it as a good win as well even though it wasn't a prime Holmes understandably.

As you said Holmes was only stopped once in 75 fights in a career spanning till 52 and was still very competitive against Holyfield and beat Mercer. I don't think Holmes was sitting on the couch either but don't know if not having a active fight benefited him either but I tend to believe it wouldn't have made much a difference either other than maybe delaying the result a round or 2 later.

It's definitely a positive for Tyson I feel.

Plenty of guys could have stopped him had Holmes fought them but he didn't. Certainly the Klitschko brothers in the late 90s could have handed him a stoppage loss, Lewis as well, probably Sanders, etc

Sure but Holmes wasn't realistically going to get as far as the Lewis and the Kiltschko brothers being in his mid 40s to early 50s. That's kinda unrealistic.
