Of course it is arguable. We argued about it for days and days here.

If people argued that...they are dumb.

Youngest HW champ ever. One of the most feared fighters in history. His short reign was one of the most impressive ever. Plus the amount of exposure he brought to the sport...good or bad...remember, there is no such thing as "bad press", as the old saying goes.

Tyson is one the greatest HWs ever (I rank him 7-12...depends on what day you ask me...:hey )....to say he aint HOF first ballot is insane.

I am not even going to bother. Tyson is a waste of space and the negative things he did to boxing are still doing harm to the sport today.

Boxers do negative things all the time, Flatlander. But that doesn't negate a fighters accomplishments.

Has nothing to do with whether he is a HOFer or not.

I have to disagree, Flatlander. I more concerned about performance. This is the same problem I have with those who say Pete Rose shouldn't be in the HOF. What Rose did was wrong. But he was a hell of a player. His performance as a player speaks for itself, as does Tyson's tenure in the ring.

What then should be the consequences for their bad behavior?

It depends what type of actions in the ring or on the field.

Consequences for bad behavior should be taken up as a civil matter if ones actions have nothing to do with the sport one partakes in.

Tyson served suspension and payed his fines for his action against Holyfield and others. I don't believe in double jeopardy by continually punishing an individual for the same offense.

Well, Mike Tyson is probably the second most famous boxer that is alive. If the HOF wants legitimacy (FAME) - they better include the second most famous boxer (and most of his fame came from performance in the ring to allow mishaps to enhance it but let's not argue that).

OF COURSE HE IS HOF BOUND
