Tyson was an old man when he fought Douglss. A 23 year old man with domestic issues can't win a fight.

No other fighter ever had problems. Only Tyson.

Actually, when Douglas' mother died it gave him super powers!

Tyson has one of the worst comebacks of all time
getting pushed around by Mcneeley, getting outboxed by Buster Mathis, Bruce Seldon falling down like it was him who got shot and not 2Pac and then a scared to death, stiff, one eyed Bruno and yeah all this is gonna get you in great shape for a ATG like Evander Holyfield (who was on steroids)

Compare that to Ali's comeback Ali fought Folley, Bonavena and Quarry, at least these guys tested him and gave him some rounds, they were much better than the garbage of Seldon, Mcneely and Mathis. Winning some belts against garbage is great on paper i guess but it does not prepare you for a Holyfield.

Vitalis comeback is great i admit, but thats because there are no Joe Fraziers Or Evander Holyfields out there to test him on his comeback.

Excellent thread. People rarely talk about Tyson's comeback other than to say that, "he was a shell of himself", despite the fact that it was an exceptional comeback by any standards.

He away for 4 years - BUT he still looked 95% of his best VS Bruno in 1996.

    I
hate him - BUT for that i gotta give him credit - it was a good comeback - until Holyfeild DESTROYED him.

You have to exert a lot of energy to fight that type of style.

Tyson actually started doing that stuff a little bit again when he was training with Tommy Brooks, and I think the best evidence of that was in his fight against Golota.

When he left Brooks, he abandoned that altogether again.

He knocked those guys out quick.

Of course he was going to be outboxed by someone after being out that long.

Bruno had just won the WBC belt Tyson destroyed him.

Tyson is mad he does not get props for this.

Honest question if anyone remembers. If I remember correctly he fought Seldon and Bruno for different ABC belts. After winning the first who was the mandatory that he obviously didnt want to face and went for the other instead? Was it Bowe or Lewis or someone else?

    He was terrified of Lewis.

He admitted that he would never have had a chance.

He landed flush on Lewis in the 3rd and Lewis took it easily.

It was Lewis, i think Tyson wanted to unify the titles or something so he had to pay lewis step aside money and then Evander ruined the gameplan.

Shows how awesome Larry Holmes comeback was - he took a prime Tyson as his first fight back, should of been KO 1 but he managed to survive quite a while - Then with a few fights under his belt he did much better against Holifield than Tyson ever could.
If Holmes had a few warm ups I reckon he could of beat Tyson any time from 1990 onwards and would probably still win if they met today.

He lost to Holy, because he was a one dimentsional head hunter at that point in his career
Anyone would of been better than Peter "Cacoon of Horror" McNeely
Bruno has never been any good, which is why he onl managed to last the distance once, with a fighter above B level
