and they still don't give a **** it's just a bit of sensationalism which they're lapping up now but will only remember for the wrong reasons down the line.
Like i said it turns the general public away in the long run, because by and large they have'nt got the mentality of a boxing fan.

I think your assessment is 100% wrong. Boxing needs to recapture the fan base that it has lost to sports such as MMA. These potential fans are more likely to take notice (similar to PBF 2 piece combo). These guys don't give a **** if PBF hands out turkeys at thanksgiving or the Bros do charity work in Africa. This type of coverage is good in both the short and long run

HW boxing is back. Controversy is good for boxing. Look at how much airtime the hatman incident got and this is better because it's two black HW's brawling. Bring on Haye vs Chisora.

Keep in mind I'm only condoning Hayes behaviour because Chisora has a history of scumbaggery towards opponents, even Klitschko fans will back that up, so Haye felt obliged to put the hurt on the man before Chisora did something stupid.

the beauty of it was also that Chisora did not think Haye was going to swing at him

Which is exactly what i'm doing, by looking at the bigger picture.

I'd love boxing to get back to being a major sport but it ain't gonna happen coz two dime bars had a bit of a scuffle!

Lots of **** going down is good, as long as there is the substance to back it up.

Boxing reminds me of Amy Winehouse sometimes -- she got lots and lots of attention over the mess she made of her life, but for all that she didn't comparitively deliver very much of what people were actually interested in: her singing. Who wants to hear about someone who does nothing but **** up their life repeatedly? But if they've got a great voice and are producing some quality music at the same time, that only adds to the interest in both.

If Chisora and Haye have motor-mouths that's fine. They just need to ****ing slug it out in the ring too. If there's **** going down, and they produce some exciting fights then it's good for boxing. If there's no substance to the noise, people will be turned off boxing.

Lots of fuss, and crappy fights -> disaster
No fuss, exciting fights -> moderate success
Lots of fuss, exciting fights -> huge success

    You've just got to deliver.

Quite right, same with the Aussie boxing at the moment.

But they don't deliver that is the problem with all the **** talkers. Apart from Mayogra , these guys talk trash and geto and **** like Hopkins, Floyd, Haye etc... then come out and fight defesivly.

:goodGreat analogy mate. One which gives food for thought instead of just dismissing one side of an argument.

The thing with boxing though is that even if it had a mighty rise in popularity you know it's not gonna last just because of the way the sport is set up.
We can't just ignore all the corruption, dodgy decisions, too many champs, top fighters avoiding each other etc. because some scuffle has got it back in the news.
We put up with all the bull**** because we love the sport, but joe public isn't interested in all that.
I'll love boxing till the day i die but to get the mainstream back the sport needs radical changes.

Bearing that in mind a new Tyson like figure on the scene wouldn't do no harm either. Changes are whats really needed though.

^How about that for cynicism blackbrenny.

As crazy as it is, it is good for the sport, as it does drum up interests. Haye vs. Chisora is now a big fight in the international market now. This wasnt the case a week ago.

it attracts people but it attracts casuals and morons who dont understand the sport and they will be the ones who complain and *****

how many people did haye attract with his antics pre wlad fight, how many of those ppl that were casuals gave up on boxing after that effort from haye

these trash talking boxers like haye and chisora should put the same effort they do in the ring as they do before and after it and maybe they can help gain good publicity for boxing

people wanna be dazzled more by the fight than anything because nothing sucks more in boxing than fights not living up to their hype and thats why talk is cheap
