You forgot to mention the numerous headbutts Evander used that were also a part of his success. He was well versed in the way of the third fist.

    Exactly my opinion
I think Lewis and Tyson would Need a trilogy of fights where Lennox wins 2-1 after being stopped in the first fight

Holyfield is tough as they come and very skilled, but I'm not buying the "he had mikes" number because he beat a post prison Tyson. It may be 50/50 or thereabouts in 91, but a rooney trained Mike would either win on points or late stoppage imo

    Good post
To be fair Lennox said nobody at 19 was ever beating Mike, he was the man then, while Lewis improved right up to his 30s

Fighters peak at different times and no chance could Lennox hang with Tyson when theu sparred

He definitely starches Lewis but I do think Holyfield would still have beaten him.

He was a freak of nature who had his prime in his late teens, The physique of a kid that young was insane. I reckon he could have won his first hw title a year earlier had he got the opportunity. The fight with Holy was definitely a past prime mike but that was more to do with his prison time and the crazy life he led with getting wasted and partying all the time too but the version who faced Lewis was barely a shell of the man he once was. A 86-88 version of Tyson beats any version of Lewis or Holy imo.

Tyson was done after prison. He had exactly one world class win and that was a flawed Golata.

I’d take an 87 Tyson over both Lewis and Holyfield.

It pains me to say I agree with the above, being a massive Tyson fan.

I still think Tyson thru 1990 would've beaten that same (late 80s early 90) version of Evander. I just don't think Tyson would've ever beaten Lennox, even raw, pre Manny Lennox

Why? Tyson was clearly harder puncher and better boxer than McCall or Rahman

Lennox was playing around with Rahman when he got clipped. (his own fault)

Against Mccall, Mccall was in clinches physically strong enough to push Lennox back, he did it multiple times in round 1. Tyson didn't do that against really tall guys and had issues with tall guys (even the ones he blew out).

Lewis absolutely DID hang with Tyson when they sparred in 1985. apparantly Mike beat him up in the first couple of rounds but once Lewis adapted, Tyson could hardly lay a glove him for the rest of the session. There were no Knockdowns either way. This was all confirmed in various interviews with Cus Damato, Kevin Rooney and Teddy Atlas. Cus even stated that the 2 of them would one day meet for the World Heavyweight Championship
