After having researched, watched the fights of Ali, Foreman, Liston, Louis, Marciano ... I come to the conclusions that in his prime Mike Tyson was the best boxer I have ever seen fight.
Mike was intense , he wasn't a bum who beat bums... He was awesome, he smashed through a whole division, then almost had to go back and do it again when he was running out of challengers... I remember after the Bruno fight there was talk of Tyson fighting Dokes and Ruddock in Toronto on the same night.. Douglas was then the scheduled opponent and the rest ishistory.. When Mike beat Spinks, Berbick fought Carl Williams in a dull IBF illiminator. If Berbick would have won ,Mike would have had to fight Berbick for a second time.. ATG top 10 heavyweight , but not the best ever.. he sits behind the likes of Ali and Holmes.. Nevertheless a great heavyweight..
The problem when assessing Tyson, is that his peak was so short. For much of his rise, as with almost all contenders, he was carefully matched. But for 8-10 fights possibly, Id agree with your statement, that Tyson at his very best, beats any other heavyweight Ive seen, at their very best. Thats my honest opinion.
He beat them before the match even started, they looked like theyd just **** them selfes. The only one i remember being so dumb and being not scared was Peter McNeeley, man i wish we could have had a rematch.
Tyson was very good skilful and aggressive puncher. Good defense, awesome speed. But he was never "invincible" like he was hyped up to be. No man is invincible. Buster Douglas punched the **** out of him, no excuses please.
