Mike Tyson knock out Michael Johnsons tooth?

Your obsession with Tyson is quite scary.

 

Not sure if he knocked the tooth out rez but it wouldn't surprise me with the power he had. Serious damage in those fists.

I can't believe Tyson didn't knock such a small fighter unconscious with his best shot. Someone like Lewis, Wlad or Joshua would likely kill him with their best punch.

 

Yes, Tyson did knock his tooth out. First found out about it in The Ring's Mike Tyson Special in 1996. They did an awesome job breaking down every Tyson fight to that point.

And in the Johnson bout the synopsis went like this, "Tyson floors Johnson immediately with a left to the ribs, and when Johnson wearily gets up, Tyson feints with a left and thumps him with a straight right. Johnson falls again, and referee Frank Cappuccino immediately calls the ringside doctor. The doctor collects five of Johnson's teeth on the canvas, and sends Johnson to the local hospital."

The only other modern era fight with a major, well-known fighter where someone's teeth get knocked out that I remember offhand is Maurice Hope getting two teeth knocked out by Benitez. I'm sure it happens among inept fighters in quasi-legal, barely regulated fights in the middle of nowhere, but I'm just talking about major, legit fights.

 

Can anyone tell me how a journeyman CW who was knocked out in 17 of his 18 losses took Tyson' s best shot and wasn't knocked unconscious.......

 

Maybe not quite the same as getting punched and the tooth flying out but I seem to recall Tim Witherspoon getting stopped by Bonecrusher Smith and immediately back in the corner afterwards spitting out a tooth.
