Based on what? Johnson was extremely strong in clinches, ask Jeffries.

I see Jeffries pushing Johnson backward until he became very tired on film. Johnson's wrestling antics worked best vs. shorter and lighter men, most of whom were unskilled. Tyson was a solid 215-220, try clinching and holding him and your going to eat punches as he came forward throwing punches, not standing flat footed and stiff, falling into a clinch like Ketchel or Flynn did.

You can't honestly think Johnson has a chance here. Choynski who did not hit as hard as Tyson had Johnson out in three. Gun Boat Smith knocked him silly as a novice in a 4 round exhibition match. Klondike had him in 6. What do you think happens when Tyson lands?

Then you don't watch the same fight as me, because I see this happening in the 4th round:

Look at this and tell me that Jeffries was stronger man in this fight.

Michael Spinks and 38 y/o Holmes would clown and humiliate most of the prime guys who fought in 1900 or 1910. It wouldn't even be close.

One thing is for sure Tyson would not be intimidating Johnson.

Bonecrusher Smith survived 12 rounds vs Tyson by virtually only grabbing, so no Tyson is not knocking Johnson out inside a round.

Johnson fighting in a era where he was not fighting with race at forefront of his mind both in and outside of the ring, could well bring out the best of him as for so many fights he played with his opponents, mocked them and their fans.
I do wonder if we truly saw what he could have done if focused just on boxing.

Chat of Mike dominating Johnson in clinches is absolutely bizarre.

Well I'm only 69yrs old so I suppose, my opinion may be valid.

Johnson was certainly strong and excelled at clinching...its very possible that he could clinch Mike and uppercut him with success.

Tyson could ko ANYONE if he caught them clean...

Tyson's biggest advantage against inferior opponents was the intimidation factor....Johnson faced down crowds of race baiting men; seriously does anyone here think Tyson could intimidate Johnson?

I honestly dont know and couldn't predict who would win this magical matchup.

But I'll get back to you in March when I'm 70.

If you think Johnson had slow feet, and would be dominated in the clinch by Tyson of all people, you obviously haven't seen much of him.

Michael Spinks would be outboxed by Tunney, beaten to death and scared from Dempsey,Lanford and Johnson while guys like Sharkey and Greb would beat him easy.
38 years old Holmes would be stopped by Johnson amd Dempsey but he would be beaten by fast Greb,Langford and Tunney!

I see Jeffries pushing Johnson backward, which happens often in the filmed rounds until he tires. Watch the film not just a short clip. Johnson grabs and arm for a moment and forces it backward. Jeffries by way won the 4th round.

It doesn't matter, Jeffries was old and out of the ring for 6 years. Tyson rushes in with movement throwing punches. Johnson woud not be able to tie Tyson up easily And like I said lighter hitters put Johnson down and out.

They LIVE for it. They waited a long time for their hero to give them fuel to bust a nut.

I don't think he was just talking about Johnson, he was saying he'd KO any fighter from that era quickly.
