The first time I ever saw you fight was on Thunderbox against David Bostice. They were pumping Bostic up as the next big thing and right in the middle of that you stopped him. After that I sought out as much footage of you as I could find. Thanks for a great career and supplying me an opportunity to tell you something I never thought I would be able to.
That is a great sentiment Tim, & I respect your efforts, career & talent. However, this is a case where one party is completely guilty & responsible for the problem. It can only be properly & morally solved if Blood has the courage & integrity to apologize & humbly beg forgiveness from Tyson. Tyson admits many problems, including mugging people from an early age. He made peace with Holyfeld by apologizing for chomping on, & biting off, part of his ear. Green started a fight with Tyson & was totally wrong. I do not know all the other nonsense he created, but I recall a quote calling Tyson "a half ******ed, hen pecked little sissyu". And a video where he kept showing the few exchanges he got the better of Tyson in their fight, with his insulting commentary, including homophobic statements: which are no more moral than racist comments. If Tyson was angry & insulted him back that would be understandable-but I know of no real sins by Tyson. It is like Ali & Frazier: Ali was completely wrong & cruel-when Frazier gave him money during his exile & intervened up to the level of Nixon to try & get him his boxing license back-& Ali's words had racist overtones too. Mitch Green is a nice guy? But we never saw that, & at least he never seems to have developed maturity or good judgement... He likely needs serious therapy to get to the point where he develops as a person & understands his own motivations... But if he is healthy enough to go to Tyson completely sorry: THAT will almost certainly fix everything! If he cannot do so, he needs to get the help to get there-& to sort out his own life.
The situation was a lot more complicated than what people saw on the media. You had drugs involved and people constantly trying to pit Mitch against Mike. Most people don't understand why great fighters can often fall fast. Lots of bad influences come around and it can really destroy a person. It is something Mike and I have talked about
Thanks for the perspective champ. However I believe that if Mitch was developed as a person he would not be led astray so easily. There was not a situation like Ali being cruel to Frazier for years & publicly humiliating him-with racist overtones & Frazier's kids needing protection after he had given Ali money & interceded at the highest levels to get Ali's boxing license back... Tyson seems to have shown some real growth over time. I hope Mitch shows the same. Sometimes say someone who was abusive comes to seeming virtue because their fire or desire fades-it is not much that they have grown when they say "find God"-it is that their energy declines & they seek the status advantage of wearing the cloth of maturity-sometimes literally in the case of religion. But to get to a true higher state one must admit deep immaturity & malevolent motivation & take responsibility... I hope Mr. green does that.
Yeah it’s been like 35 years. Both of these men have their own lives and are grown men now. Time to let the past go
