Mike Tyson never lost a fight with Kevin Rooney as his trainer.
Essentially Kevin Rooney was training Tyson under the guidance of Cus, ever since Teddy Atlas was kicked out of the Cus Damato's gym. Since Cus was old, and very poor health.

Here is a great retro HBO video of Rooney talking about Tyson . Rooney saying " we are like brothers, we both grew up around Cus. It's not business between me and him. We are more like freinds than just boxer and trainer." Why was Rooney canned?

Cus predicted that Tyson would be the youngest Heavyweight Champion of all time, passing cus's old record he set with Floyd Patterson in 1956. Unfortuantely Cus died 11 fights into Tysons pro career and never got see him as Champion.

I Think Rooney was let go when Don King was able to get his hands on Mike Tyson. Kevin Rooney was training a Welter Weight named Ricky Myers( I think this is his name) that was a regular on ESPN(I think or Tuesday night fights). He was asked about Tyson I just remember him saying he would love to train Tyson again. As we all know it never happened.

He wanted everyone around Tyson gone, so he could control him. You know steal his money?? Did you think he cared for Tyson and his career?

I think Don King cared about making money. And picking some tramp off the street to train the Heavyweight champion of the World was a monumental mistake.

If Don King is the reason. He was probably trying to save money and it backfired in his face when Tyson quickly lost after Rooney was fired.

Look at Tyson before King and after Cus' death. He still had his core people and little by little they were turned away when King got into the picture.

Tyson had a very specific bob and weave style that made him effective. After Rooney left that tramp couldnt train Tyson like he needed to, to be successful.

King wanted Rooney out so he could manipulate Tyson. Much like the way Arum wants Roach gone so he can control Pac.

Check out the book called the inner ring by Rudy gonzales...I guarantee you, your whole perspective on Tyson will change.

That was Teddy Atlas. But yeah, Don King and a lot of other yes men who played with Mike's mind were to blame.

Mike Tyson would probably be in prison if not for Bobby Stewart and Cus Damato. And he wouldnt of been a boxer. Cus use to train Bobby.

Stewart said Cus you gotta check this kid out. He met Tyson working as a counsler after Tyson was arrested for the 38th time. Stewart initially was impressed by Tyson incredible strength and already physique and it taking so many officers to restrain one kid.
