Your post further proofs that you are born in the nineties..........

Besides getting a covershot on the Ring claiming "I want Tyson" he did absolute ZERO to earn a shot, lol, he was still fighting bouncers and long shoreman on the USA network Tuesday night fights............unless you call coke head/alkie Cooney a threat....

However, in Tysons second career he was never the same and never ever was in any shape or form ready for 12 hard rounds, he fought strictly on talent and that still got him further than old Foreman. Even that shell of a former Tyson has more than enough to cave in George...........everbody on the inside knew including Foreman himself.

The old man has a major problem with speed and that was the sole reason Bob Arum cherrypicked (and bribed, Fact) fighters for him and even then ii completely backfired, lol, he was rather stripped of the belt instead of fighting a legitmate top ten Hwt but faced Eurobum Schultz instead and got another GIFT.

Anyway, it does not matter, I I don't get paid supporting fighters but I at least wanted to straighten out the record what truly happenend.

Remember I saw the vast majority fights live including Holyfield vs Foreman, Tyson I&2 etc etc and I was once invited to watch Tyson spar with McCall and lets just say he beat the living tar out of the Atomic Bull, Tyson never sparred...... those were sanctioned Gym fights.

Most people agree Tysons prime was 86-91

Tell me who did Tyson duck during this time?

Foreman has gone on record and admitted he ducked Shavers

That may have soemthing to do with the fact that Tyson was coming from a 4 year layoff and had barely boxed about 6 rounds in 5 years whereas Foreman although old, had taken part in a number of bouts by then

Secondly, i doubt youve even watched the fights. Holyfield did not run from Foreman, he stood there and traded with him, he did not bang with Tyson, he carefully counterpunched Tyson and waited for him to tire and only started trading in round 10-11 when he knew Tyson was completely out of gas. You need to watch the fights again

If youd laced a pair, youd know that an active fighter, regardless of how old, will perform much better than an inactive fighter.

Larry Holmes also lasted longer with Holyfield and look where that got him when he fought Tyson. lets not forget Alex Stewart who peformed much better against Holyfield and Foreman and didnt even hear the second bell against Tyson

Foreman struggled with Morrison and Moorer, guys Tyson would have rendered unconsious within a couple of rounds.

    Sauhund,
Unfortunately, like yourself, I am old enough to remember the 90s (indeed the 70s!!!), and you have pretty much nailed this subject with this post, you have captured the truth of the subject.

Your post in my opinion appears to confirm that living through this era gives a different perspective to some who didn't. Great work if I may say so.

Foreman hand picked his opponents? Tyson fought David Jaco and guys like Mike Jameson too. So apparently Tyson was hand picking his opponents too. Tyson on his comeback got further than Foreman? Foreman was still fighting guys like Shannon Briggs when he was 50. Tyson was getting knocked out by Kevin McBride and Danny Williams when he was in this 30's.

You can say Tyson was shot then but so was Foreman his whole second career and nobody knocked him out

Tyson fought much better guys on the road to his title shot than did Foreman. Even the guys that both Tyson and Foreman fought were not at the same points in their careers. Foreman fought guys that Tyson (and others) had already abused and splattered and, eventually, Tyson stepped up his level of opposition. Foreman didn't get anywhere near a legitimate top ten contender on the road to Holyfield. Cooney was a joke; Rodriguez was a joke.
