Mike was holding back big time and the other guy was terrified to try anything because he didnt want to make any openings........It was a nice respectful sparring session but im not sure who the guy was.Sorry

Tyson was an extraordinary fighter back in the day. You can Mike holding back some-what, but you can still see that he had technique in abundance. Even Mike's jab was up to scratch & sharp in his heyday. His timing, particularly when throwing a jab was real good 7 that's why he was able to set it all up with the jab.

Tyson moves his head a great deal, pivots at the waist alot, never a stationary target. Once he lost that movement, he became alot eaiser to face. People rave on about Tyson's power, 7 yes he was KO artist, but it was his speed & the difficulty in being able to hit him that surprised his opponents.

Tyson's actual boxing skills are not given enough credit. Mike had natural talent, a kind you simply cannot teach.

What I did notice about Tyson there in the vid was when he was throwing in the jab his right hand moves from guard it either came back towards the shoulder or went out laterally leaving him open to a good left hand ???

Definitely. As you say, a lot of the subtler things he did are overlooked.

Thanks for the info Bigcat. McCrory was a useful cruiserweight in his day.
