Mike always smoked weed. He was high when he beat Golota. Mike has become more sociable because he no longer has the pressure of boxing on him. Youre talking about a guy who arguably had more pressure on him to perform than any other athlete on Earth. It's no secret that he hated to train in the latter part of his career - coupled with the pressure of still having to be "The Baddest Man on the Planet," even while past his prime, I think the combination of those factors was overwhelming him and driving him crazy. Now he can just be his true self, and people like his true self.
It's definitely fascinating to follow the changes in Tyson from when he first burst on the scene all the way thru his different life stages. He's one of a kind that's for sure.
Having the pressure off of him has changed him for sure, good for him. I'm sure he still has he demons, as we all do. He absolutely enjoys smoking more now, I guess of it being legal with the way he chooses to use it.
When he lost his daughter a few years after his career ended it really changed him and mellowed him out.
Unlike so many fighters he genuinely seems to respect the guys before him. He spent a lot of time studying them as well.
And he wanted to be like the old timers .He once said in a n interview he wanted to be like Harry Greb .The guy interviewing said ,"Greb ?he went 45 --0 in one year " And Tyson replied " and in three division s ,those Guy's lived to fight back ,I wanted to be like them ..
Very true John .Those of us a certain age remember him starting out on to the world scene .He looked like he could own the division for years .Peak performance 1988 getting Spinks out in one round !
