Why make excuses for Mike Tyson. Larry Holmes, Evander Holyfield, Muhammad Ali, where all beaten too, when they where past their best. But they also had great victories past their best.

Why is there a special by-pass for Mike Tyson..? and special rules..?

    Don't make excuses.

Tyson was great at knocking out bums and B level fighters, no one in the history of the sport destroyed lower level fighters like Tyson did. But when it came to top fighters Tyson almost always lost. The Tyson excuse crew would have you believe a fighter is old by 24. LMAO

Berbick, Smith, Thomas, Tubbs, Tucker, Holmes, Spinks were all world champions and Biggs the undefeated Olympic Gold medalist.

How are these B level bums? They were top fighters.

Holmes, Spinks and Thomas were lb4lb-rated when Tyson was coming up the ranks. He beat the men who beat them and beat them too. Thomas had possibly the best jab ever, and Holmes and Spinks two of the other best jabs ever.

Tubbs had quicker hands than Tyson himself. Smith and Tucker were outjabbed by Tyson despite being half a foot taller.

Mike was starting to decline around the Spinks fight. He clearly wasn't at his best against Spinks - there were lots of subtle things he wasn't doing anymore. And he was a shell of his former self against Bruno in '89.

Tyson was great but had no great longevity. He dominated an average crop of contenders for about 3 years, then was beaten by one.
He had a few good wins after he lost to Douglas, but never proved himself the best again after that.
I think he's overrated by some, who cling to that short prime as something like him being in an almost "invincible" state.
I think he's underated by others, who exaggerate the weakness of his opposition.
He beat some good fighters, in devastating fashion.

Mike Tyson had a self destructive personality because he was insecure. He would of always gone off the rails, whether Cus lived or not, cause that is who he was. To be a great fighter, is not only about what you do in the ring, its about how you live your life oustide the ring(Hopkins). Hopkins is as great as he is because of discipline and dedication he gave to the sport.

That's right. It wasn't just beating all the best fighters in the world - it was the truly devastating fashion he did. The way he took out Berbick, Thomas, Tubbs, Holmes and Spinks was unheard of. (Smith and Tucker grabbed, jabbed and ran so Tyson just out-jabbed 'em.)

When you're the most famous man in the world at 20 years old, having come from nowhere, and the richest man in sport, at age 20 having come from the gutter, the streets with nothing, all of a sudden... must be abit weird. And when you've got a manipulative gold-digging mind-gamer girlfriend/wife like Robin Givens, and then Don King in one ear, Cayton etc in the other era, your mentor in the ground, your adversaries all knocked out, it sure must mess you up abit.

Many feel he tried to commit suicide in '88 when he speeded his car directly into a tree.

So by your definition, Ali was a lousy fighter? (openly cheating on his wife, ducking the draft, making racial slurs against Frazier, etc etc etc)

    Who knew?

:lol::lol::lol::lol: **** no, Wlad he's never faced an opponent with the head movement, hand speed (okay, maybe Chambers and Haye) and most importantly, raw punching power (once again, maybe Peters, maybe :think) and pure ****ing relentlessness and pressure, and not just will to win, but will to rip Wlad's head off :deal

so yea, i find it hard to believe to Wlad can do that to Tyson, cause believe it or not, Lennox and Wlad fought very differently (although yes, both fought outside fights) but Lennox fought Tyson in a very ferocious-outside way, taht Wlad just doesn't do

Tyson was a beast and possibly the greatest heavyweight ever it just went downhill after Cus D'Amato died.

He was never the same again.
I'd have taken that tyson to knock out any heavyweight in history.

Well, D'Amato died in '85. So it didn't really go downhill because he'd yet to achieve much in the pros.
