Most overrated, lol? - The youngest man ever to win the heavyweight title - In his prime he was one of the most fearest champ's ever - He was a monster, I don't remember any fighter who SEEMED to be as unstoppable as Tyson did. - KO1 Over Michael Spinks is a fu*king hardcore result. He had lot of troubles throught his career and his personality wasn't so likeable all the times but I just can't agree with you. Tyson is not overrated.
Buster Douglas is what happens when a fighter win in one round too many times and start believe that he can just jump into the ring and the other guy dropping to the canvas. How many rounds did Tyson box the two years before Douglas ? almost none. I my opinion Kostya Tszyu did suffer from the same thing. After his brutal kayo against Judah he did deliver sloppy some performances and Hatton did punish him for that.
Are you seriously f*cking rating Tyson's career by its end? That's as dumb as rating Julio Cesar Chavez based on his loss to Grover Wiley or rating Muhammed Ali based on his loss to Larry Holmes.
Tyson is not the most over rated boxer of all time Before the Buster Douglas fight, he has Cus, he had Rooney, he had Teddy and he was dedicated to training. He is an ATG, he is not the greatest heavyweight of all time and he would admit that himself Just because he lost to Holyfield twice and had losses to people like Williams and McBride doesn't mean anything, Tyson was well past his best by then. Lennox beat a shadow of what the real Tyson would have brought to the table.
Jack Johson are you serious. Do you think the general public would even know who he is. If you asked 10 people in the street who jack johnson is i bet no more than 2 would know who he his, and not one of them would call him the G.O.A.T If you did the same with Tyson, 10 out of 10 would know him and at least 5 of them would say hes the greatest boxer ever
I think that he is just a tad overrated, but at the same time his detractors have underrated him so badly, that I'd say it balances out. I mean, I can remember back in the late 80's when he was being talked about as quite possibly the best heavyweight ever.. He loses one fight to a lesser opponent, and somehow goes from being great to being **** in just one evening. There are some who have even tried to strip him of the claim of youngest heavyweight champ of all time, by virtue of calling him an alphabet titlist rather than a lineal claimant. The next thing I'm waiting for is for someone to say that the guy wasn't even a licensed professional.
