:huh Holy & Tyson agreed terms before the Douglas fight & again in 91-92, but Mike got beat & then went to jail. They had sparred as amateurs & Holy was always confident he would beat him, the fight took so long to happen because Mike ****ed up, twice.
Right Mo, and there's bit of sarcasm stemming from another thread. I'm talking 1988-89 when Holyfield was already being seasoned as the #1 contender in the division. BoxRec leads people to believe Tyson was ducking Evander when really, the fight was scheduled to go down exactly when it was ready to be. And yes, it was a 'done deal' on two separate occasions before Tyson went to prison.
Even if some people put him at #11, and others say yes, that's pretty much agreement of being a "top ten" heavyweight. 11 is pretty close and then you average. I would say H to H in the top 7 or 8 and resume in the top 10-12. But on any given night he had a good chance against anyone (well, except maybe Foreman, because of style).
In his prime yes but you have to take into account his whole career you can't be stuck on his achievements when he was young but what happened when he was challenged too.
Jack Dempsey was way over rated. Did not fight 1 black fighter. Plus he was an ahole who raised and fought pittbulls.:-(
yes easily. His prime was amazing. A short prime, but amazing. Not high on the ATG list because he did not beat many ATG fighters, but he did beat Holmes and Spinks who were ATG and at heavyweight he deserves high ranking.
