That's a little bit much That means an amatuer fighting their first pro fight against Ali and beating him would suddenly be ranked higher than Wlad if he retired there and then. Or if you took the Ali win off of Frazier's resume and added Wlad's 58 wins and 3 losses he'd drop down the list as a result
LOL just ignore it. the Klitchkos will get their props the day they retire. Wlad is the most underappreciated champ in boxing today.
I don't know how that can be ignored. I think a lot of boxing fans who know the sport well place individual wins over ATGs above and beyond everything else when it comes to ranking fighters, often to a ridiculous degree. That comment (even though I expect it was an exaggeration to some degree) really highlights how over the top this way of thinking can become
Spot on. Mike Tyson says he fought at his best during the time period AFTER losing to Buster Douglas and before going to prison. Also, Tyson has always maintained that his best performances were against Alex Stewart and Henry Tillman.
I say yes in his peak prime i think he have the ability to be any heavyweight. His prime and dominance was short but was exciting. Definitely one of the more memorable heavyweight champs of all time.
LOL if Dempsey had fought those guys ppl like you would have criticised him for fighting shot fighters, its incredible that you think Dempsey ducked fighters who were completely shot.
The obvious question now is: do you consider Lennox an ATG? If yes, then which prime ATG did he beat?
Also for people who understand ANYTHING ABOUT HW BOXING. Lennox Lewis got his props so fast because the era was viewed as WEAK right after his retirement. Hence making his victories and his career stand out almost right away. Lewis retired in 2004, by 2007 people were singing his love songs. THAT IS NOT AND WILL NOT ALWAYS BE THE CASE.:deal Larry Holmes is an ATG around Lennox's rankings, (if not higher) but he never got his dues at the rate Lewis got his. It took DECADES for Holmes to get his praise. Why? Because right after HIS RETIREMENT, Tyson came along and everyone forgot about the 'dark era' with Holmes. IN OTHER WORDS. Wladimir is an ATG and I sure do appreciate him, but for those of you saying he will get his dues after his his retirement? Well it can be right after, or it can be when we all old and dying.
The Tony Tucker win is also underrated as ****. Tucker was 34-0 29 kos. One of the more skilled heavys of the 80s
I'm not trying to be cute, but by the same standard of "lighting up boxing", would you put Dempsey in the top 10?
Tyson does not get that luxury, his critics are the harshest but his fan boys can get a little carried away at times...
