I thought I separated the 2 categories by saying as he got older he fizzled earlier....By the way are you an English teacher? or a boxing fan...you are a humorous old fella but I dont mind and if you dont mind it dont matter :hi:
with all due respect, i think you'll find most fighters get weaker as the fight goes on when theyre being pummeled
Marciano got stronger as the fight went on, Holmes was another,Frazier was another,Mike Weaver as well. Lennox was not, Foreman was not, Tyson started to get flat around the 7th but then had a 2nd wind for a round or 2 but sporadically
or it may have been due to the fact that had only boxed about 8 rounds in 5 years and the last time he went past 8 was about 5 years prior just because Holyfield couldn't stop Cyz didn't automatically erase the fact that Tyson had spent 4 years in prison. Tyson was gassing after 4 rounds and looking to the ref for help everytime Holyfield hit him, the signs were there that he wasn't the same fighter he once was. Michael Moorer touched on this before his second fight with Holyfield. He said people were overrating Holyfield just bcause he beat Tyson but Tyson wasn't the same fighter he once was
do you mean he was not the same fighter that fought Buster Douglas when Tyson had Douglas down in the 8th but fizzled. Look Tyson had 5 fights in 2 years before Holyfield and won them all, preparing for 5 fights should give a man enough gym conditioning to fight 12 rounds. Tyson had just Ko'd big Bruno in 3 and Seldon in 1. We can all make excuses after we lose but for Me Mike never proved he could swim in deep waters, by the way I picked him over Foreman
Perhaps you need to actually look at tape of Tyson and notice the differences pre and post incarceration and realize how his fights were largely set-ups after he got out of the joint. He was a short-prime heavy, along the lines of Dempsey and Frazier. I would not be using fights when he was 30 and over as justification for a Foreman victory. That said, I am not explicitly picking Tyson. Cus always thought an older Foreman would be a bad match-up for Mike.
Look it was the Buster fight that Tyson fizzled after the KD of Buster in the 8th was in fatigue or did Tyson lose his will I wanted to see them fight in 91 but it was canceled I think I still have the t-shirt somewhere but when they did fight they both had some water under the bridge. I did see Tyson fight and other than his gangster mouth and attitude he seemed to be fit and fierce. Was Evander the same guy he was in 90-91 when he KO'd Douglas? I dont think so. Either way Tyson fell into the same pattern of Trying his best, shooting his load and getting dropped and hurt then stopped by a motivated Holyfield that was not going to lay down like Seldon and Bruno and the rest. Like I said I picked Tyson but not so sure, I think Tyson can get inside George and Rock him and possibly finish it but George got off the floor vs Lyle and was still dangerous. Can Tyson hit harder and faster than Lyle YES INDEED so I am gonna pick him but not betting with even odds
People underrate Tyson's boxing ability, Foreman in 73 and 94 would only be able to land thudding shots on Tyson's gloves and arms. He would struggle to land any hard meaningful shots on Tyson's elusive weaving and dodging. Tyson would counter Foreman's big wide hooks and uppercuts and I believe would knock Foreman out. Foreman was so open in 73 which Tyson would take advantage of and 94 Foreman would be to slow to cause Tyson much trouble. 94 Foreman can only walk down Tyson whilst eating shots for so long.
Tyson was a train wreck going into that fight. After the Williams fight, he had ballooned up to 260 pounds. He started camp very late, about four weeks out. He missed days of camp and was only halfassed when there, getting KD'd in sparring. It was not the best version of Tyson upon which to base an argument. He displayed excellent stamina against Bonecrusher Smith and Tucker.
nah, he did not press for the KO or increase the pace of the fight, there was silent agreement with Tucker he hurt Mike and Mike did not press and with Boneclutcher Tyson started strong early but the Clutcher held tight and Mike did not over exert the pace.....evidence shows a fizzle after 8rounds for Tyson but like I said Foreman was worse in the stamina area but proved heart getting up to win vs Lyle, Tyson never got up to win so I give George the slight edge there because he did it 2or 3 X vs Lyle but failed to do it vs Ali or Young
Out of his 58 fights would you care to tell us where Tyson DIDN'T " either " head butt, use the elbows, low blows, shots on the break or after the bell, bite, or most any other kind of foul you can think of? Him crying like a tart to Mills Lane when he was on the WRONG end of it was bad enough. But his fanboys screaming about it, smacks of little girls in the school playground.
David Haye gets them both in the same night !! I mean look at the tenacity he showed against Klitchko ! It`s no contes for anyone against the `Hayemaker` !!!
A fighter, even a great KO artist, can not KO everyone. Tucker was durable. Bonecrusher was strong as hell, one of the strongest heavies ever. Tyson kept up his work rate in both fights. Not everyone goes. The fact that so few of his fights lasted beyond half way is the real story here. And Ron Lyle is a full grade or two below a prime Tyson.
Nah, you're thinking of the granite chinned Shavers who was stopped by such power houses as Tex Cobb, Quarry, Mercardo, and Yates.
