    Agreed.

Tony Tubbs was never a particularly great fighter, but he had some boxing talent and had never been KO'd. He began outlanding Tyson in the first round, in much the same way that Douglas did, but when round two came along, Tyson absolutly pulverized him. Frank Bruno was no stiff and he managed to stagger Tyson, but Mike came back and pounded him to submission. Tony Tucker was a 6'5", 220 Lb heavyweight who was previously unbeaten in 35 bouts, and tried to outbox Tyson, but got dominated. Razor Ruddock had a left uppercut that could put any fighter to sleep and he certainly tried to slug it out toe to toe with Tyson, but got beaten twice. Jose Ribalta kept coming back time and time again against Tyson, only to get the **** beat out of him.

So I ask you, Where in the hell does this idea that Tyson couldn't beat fighters who stood up to him come from? Is this some sort of mythical tale that I must have missed growing up? Was I helucinating on acid when Tyson fought these men?

Green sure as hell wasn't afraid of Tyson.

Didn't stop Tyson from smashing Green's dental work out of his face with a jab.

It's vogue to say that if you just stand up to Tyson you will beat him most of those who claim that Tyson would crumble the first time you hit him only saw Tyson from 1990 on.

To hear some guys tell it Tyson was a monster who was not hit cleanly in 37 fights and the first time someone stood up to him Tyson immediatelly curled up into a corner.

You will see some guy claim that Tyson never beat anyone good and would crumble to the first guy who stands up to him at least once a week in any thread about Tyson.

It really is quite bizarre, how quickley and how badly his resume got distorted and berated. In 1989, Mike Tyson was deemed the youngest heavyweight champion of all time, was unbeaten in 37 pro fights, had recently scored the fastest KO over another all time great, and according to some was possibly THEE best heavyweight ever. In the course of a single loss, in the rare and only instant that he showed up unfocussed, he went from being an all time great to a tomato can that anybody with a half ass rating could beat.

****in' ridiculous if you ask me.

He was held in that high of a regard. He was the next big thing, the epitome of what fans wanted to see. What the sport needed.

Of course a loss (To who Tyson lost to) was going to change the entire thing on it's ass.

Quarry comes out of this looking like his face has been fed through a woodchipper. Tyson TKO 4.
