Dear Friends kind regards Today we continue with our Fantasy warfare match series I have watched every Mike Tyson fight including his first one on VHS(very poor quality) and anyone who watched that match live back in 85 could see that he had something going for him even then. Tyson knocked out Trevor Berbick in late 1986 to become the WBC World heavyweight champion and it wasn't long before he unified all of the other titles. Anyone who leaves Tyson out of their top 10 isn't doing him justice. Tyson could bob and weave and therefore miss alot punches, his quickness in missing punches and throwing punches was breathtaking. Tyson was durable to a good degree and his punching power was murderous, he could throw punches so quickly and so accurately that his opponent wouldn't even see it coming furthermore very few recovered from Tysons first initial onslaught. Tyson was known as a man who knew how to handle giants, he fought tall men and handled them easily. Let us say that we could use a time machine. What happens if a prime Mike Tyson had to defend his belts against Nikolai Valuev? Valuev is a very tall man, slow but durable and perhaps his size could make for a very interesting match up. Who would win this match over 12 rounds? Will Mike Tyson knock out Nikolai Valuev? Or could the giant Russian surprise everyone and some how produce the goods to defeat Tyson? I await your response. yours thankfully John
Tyson would just be too fast and too skilled. Valuev ain't landing a glove on him fighting like an oak tree, he'll bob and weave that **** in his sleep Tyson would be hitting his kneecaps half the time, so the stoppage is unlikely. I don't rule out a body shot knockout given Tyson's power, but I've never seen Valuev remotely bothered by body shots and its a commonly used tactic against the giant so I wouldn't bet on it Tyson UD
I don't think anyone can knock out Valuev to be honest with you. Valuev has a big advantage due to his size and what not. I can see Tyson winning on points.
Interesting, actually. I'd pick Tyson over anyone regardless of height normally but he'd have to use his best body attack against Valuev that's for sure. I'd give Valuev a better shot at prime Tyson than anyone else in the division these days.
There's no way Valuev could win or even really be competitive, but I'm not sure if Tyson would be able to knock him out. It wouldn't surprise me to see him get stopped though, he's never been hit by anything close to Tyson-like power or precision punching. I could see him freezing up and letting Tyson tee off on him on the ropes with flush shots, leading to an "opponent not responding with his back on the ropes" type of referee stoppage. Another one of Valuev's problems in this matchup is that he's not a very physical fighter.. he doesn't impose his size on his opponents in a highly effective way and he doesn't fight dirty on the inside, roughing them up (something that could bother Tyson). He would show respect to Tyson while Mike would slip his main weapon (the slow, constant jab) very easily, get on the inside easily, and bother him with his speed/power/accuracy/punch-vaiety on the inside. It would be interesting to see how Valuev would handle Tyson's body punches, there's a good chance he would get seriously hurt by a hard shot he won't see coming. My official pick would be Tyson by mid-late TKO or near shutout UD.
ah yes the offspring of an accidental (or intentional) cross pollination of a North American grizzly bear and Ulyana, the failed experiment of Russian military scientists. I find it very hard to justify the credibility of the casting director for Street Fighter the Movie in having blatantly missed out on this guy to take on the highly regarded and challenging role of the greatest video-game-based wrestler in the entire Soviet Union, Zangief. Anyway if we are talking about Tyson in his prime there is no way Valuev has a chance. Tyson cleans his clock with greater speed and power. Valuev isn't even close to the best in the current dismal state of the division - Tyson in his prime is one of the best heavyweights of all time.
dear moralman kind regards, tyson most likely stops him with the first sat on left hook to the liver he throws. yours thankfully cooke
Not sure he could get enough leverage on his punches to KO the giant, but he would certainly beat him.
