So people are saying Buster would have been a big underdog? No way a guy like Douglas could pull a major upset, haha.
This is a 39 year old Douglas though even if he gets himself in self in good shape and is motivated is it still enough?
Tyson just wasn't as good as many believed, even an ATG at 80% would have found a way to beat Douglas, that's what greats do.
Tyson was ****ing brilliant at his best. He had amazing defense barely getting hit, and a 2 handed incredible offense, throwing amazing combos. Now, that doesn't make him invincible (cause nobody is), but he sure was great. And your ideea that an ATG should win even at 80% is stupid for 2 reasons: 1. You assume Tyson was at 80%. 2. Even if your assumption is right, Tyson's main issue wasn't a physical one, but a mental one. His personal life was going to shambles, so his mind was not focused on boxing.
He looked brilliant against average to good opposition, the facts are he never came close to beating another ATG. Again you're trying to give him a pass for his loss to Douglas, given your psychology expertise, how many fighters go in to a bout in 100% mental and physical condition? I'll let you in on a little fact, even Douglas wasn't 100%, in fact he was physically less prepared than Tyson because he'd just been on antibiotics prior to the fight.
Holmes and Spinks say hi. And how could he come close if he wasn't prime against the rest ?!? Most go into a but in a far better condition than Tyson was against Douglas. That don't make him less prepared.
