The best thing that ever happened to Tyson was when he stopped boxing. He became a happier person in retirement.

I think his technique eroded because he stopped doing what Rooney had him doing in training. It had little or nothing to do with Rooney's insight as a trainer.

Buster Mathis commented in the book Facing Tyson how it was obvious that Tyson was not using the tried and trusted training methods that made him so successful. Mathis knew Tyson on a personal level and knew Mike's training regime well.
Rooney was no genius. He was a good fit for Tyson but he was not a particularly astute observer.
In fact, if you listen to most corners during a fight, the trainers mostly give out useless information that does nothing to help their fighter.
'Use the jab' or 'stay on the inside.' No ****.

Yeah, Ali was good at making adjustments, but even he gets way overrated. In three fights, he could not figure out Ken Norton. A true ring genius would have. But yeah, Tyson was largely an instinctive fighter, I will agree there.

If I could have a buck for every time a trainer got a pick wrong, I'd be a billionaire.

Roach is a good trainer but like the rest of us he is still ultimately guessing, based on information we all already have anyway.
But anyway...we will all have our own opinions. :good

The two key points that would lead to Tyson winning are as follows:

    1. He was much better technicaly.
    2. He was much more willing to comitt to the attack.

FFS, didnt Freddy Roach train Tyson around the Williams/Mcbride fights?

How does that mean Tua will beat Tyson?

To my knowledge, Roach didnt even train Tua.

If Roach is so smart, why doesnt he teach Pacqiauo to watch out for the right hand, the same one Marquez KHTFO with?
