Let's say that Mike Tyson was still champion in 1991 and George Foreman squared off with him instead of Holyfield. What happens next?

At that particular time I think Foreman had the edge mentally. Tyson had achieved so much already I don't believe he was interested in boxing anymore.

I remember they ask Foreman in a postfight interview around 1990 about Mike Tyson. George declared "Mike Tyson's not into boxing anymore." Regardless of how one views comebacking Foreman there is no one that can question his determination. Big George knew Mike Tyson wasn't getting in his face.

George gotta pay for that youth center, he's still hyped off to throw some fists again,he still performed very good vs a young puncher like Briggs.

Mike on the other side was slipping like a rollerskater casting their rollers with banana skin and ice cubes.

Tyson by stoppage. Too quick of hand and feet for Georges while having comparable power IMO. And Tyson had still murderous body attack in 1991.

This is like your 7th version of a Foreman vs Tyson thread and you've responded to several that others have made. You have 2 Foreman threads on the first page. It's becoming an obsession.

    Tyson was still murderous then.
He could be the second man to achieve a KO over George.

I used to fancy Foreman but I'm coming around to the idea that Tyson probably had the edge.

Just a thought. Ruddock managed to go the distance with Tyson in '91. He took a beating in the process but it seemed like he could have won if he understood how to use his size. Foreman would claim the center of the ring.
Tyson actually started to unravel emotionally late in their rematch. Ruddock wouldn't quit, kept throwing murderous punches back. Mike started hitting Razor low.
Can't help but put Big George in that same scenario he would have the poise, experience and confidence to give Mike a reason to lay down.

Tommy Morrison was no Mike Tyson but they had some similarities. Morrison had enough humility to concede that coming forward, crouching looking to land his hook was not a good way to beat Foreman. Tyson's ego wouldn't let him adjust.

I favour Tyson, but it’s dangerous for him, he could get hurt with uppercuts, but I favour his speed to land enough counters to steal it, the problem is, could he back Foreman up or at least keep it in the middle of the ring? Tyson couldn’t fight going backwards.
If he can’t at least keep it in the middle of the ring, he might lose.

contrary to appearances, in this short period from 1988 to 1991, I believe that Ruddock was more dangerous to Tyson than Foreman... Just as big, just as strong, probably faster and also a style nightmare for Mike... Overall, I think it's quite possible that he wasn't a tougher opponent for Mike in 1990-1991 than Ruddock. I'm convinced that if we put Ruddock in Tokyo-Mike, Razor will become world champion.
and now.. if we are talking about Mike who is after the defeat against Buster, Foreman's victory is very possible.. He has a mental advantage and Mike seems to be obsessed with George, a kind of childhood trauma. If Octavio Mercante counts out Buster in the 8th round and then it's Tyson-Foreman, it's probably a Tyson-Thomas replay or something like that. But Mike would have fought Holyfield, not George.

I bet Tyson wins by a 12 round decision, but he takes heavy shots and performs worse against Foreman than Holyfield did. 8-4 for Tyson, no way he knocks out Foreman.
