Tyson was only dangerous for a few rounds post prison. In 1995 he was rusty. Foreman at least could carry his power and also box Tyson using his jab and pushing him back..Mike would be tuckered out.

Slow? Yes. Wide swinging? No, not the 90's version. He threw plenty of straight powerful jabs right down the middle. It was literally his best quality that people took note of when he came back.

80's Tyson got his head snapped back from straight strong jabs from Thomas, Tucker, and Douglas but an even worse version of Tyson straight out of prison with worse reflexes and head movement will have no trouble with Foreman's jab?

I think Foreman is a bad style match for Tyson. Tyson crouched low, he fought moving forward. I also think Foreman had things that Tyson lacked, especially post Tokyo and post prison. Perspective, focus, a support system around him that generally had his interests at heart. All that points to Foreman.

That said, 95 Tyson was probably not quite as shot as people make him out to be. Yeah McNeely didn't mean much, but Buster Mathis Jr. was a legit undefeated up and comer and the fight against Bruno proved that Tyson could turn it on when he wanted to. Tyson imo physically didn't endure half of what most guys who get to his level did by virtue of him being a quick started, ferocious finisher, and being matched against a lot of guys who suited his style. His lackadaisical performances were due to mental health issues, and i'm pretty sure that's what Mike has said too.

Honestly I just think Foreman was the greater fighter and had the style advantage and personally I put a ton of weight on the intangibles and mental edge stuff. It just seems so huge at the top level where they're all at the end of the day great great fighters and the margins are small.

Foreman KO 8. Tyson dominates first few rounds, ripping big shots on Foreman's big head. Foreman is working his jab but Tyson is weaving under and landing left hooks and uppercuts. But oops Foreman has an ATG chin and old foreman doesn't gas himself out or tense up. But foreman is landing some sneaky body hooks and Tyson is slowing a little. His corner is siked in between rounds, hyping him up, not giving advice, but Tyson seems strangely distant and discouraged . In round 8 Foreman stuns Tyson with a feinted body hook that turns into a rear uppercut. Foreman lands a strait fight hand and drops Tyson to his knees. Tyson gets up (the first time he does so in his career) but his face tells it all. He walks into another strait right almost willingly, and then stays down for the count.

This is a very interesting take. Psychology, body language, attitudes, these are all x factors few people like to discuss. Tyson has shown several of the mentally distant behaviors you're describing in many of his fights--especially post prison. He could yell and curse like a sailor all he wanted to appear like an alpha male, but his heart wasn't in it and a trained eye could see that. It was mostly tough talk to convince himself and the public to buy his PPV at best, and an erratic mental state teetering towards a break down at worst.

Tyson was like programmed in his training. When he was focused it made him pretty unstoppable and lethal in the ring. But when his mind stopped being in it be went on autopilot.

And the thing is Foreman was the opposite. He never had self doubts or just froze up wondering what to do. He was the proverbial shark sniffing for blood and weakness. If plan A didn't work, it just meant he wasn't hitting the guy hard enough and he went back to plan A. His absurd power and chin gave him unsettling confidence.

This is what made him dangerous and also made him vulnerable to cautious boxers who could outmaneuver him. But he was highly effective at neutralizing aggressive guys who came to him.

I think no matter which versions of these two fighters you pick, these are x factors that could turn the tide.

when did he face someone as strong as George with that style and pedigree? lets go down the line. Berbick? no,,, Smith hugged him,,, Thomas? a 5 or 6 round beating, Tucker? Quick boxer, Biggs inexperienced and rushed with 16 fights.. Holmes was old. Tubbs? Fast but no power. come on.. Spinks? A small heavyweight. Bruno, strong but and Carl Williams? Where are the power punching Foremans he fought?

Douglas was not a great fighter, and the way he was beaten by Evander as well as Tucker shows something there.. Mike had weaknesses and created his own distractions, but a Foreman style would have been hard for him regardless. It would have taken him out of his gameplan and his momentum.

he was in Tokyo. it's too bad he had a one fight prime, then promptly stopped training, showed up out of shape against Holyfield. Showing up out of shape against a prime Holyfield is basically suicide.

mike fought mutiple slow sloopy boxers you named bruno was he not sloopy and hit hard and was almost as slow as George George that out didnt you wasnt that the same as George slow and hit hard there 1 right there
    slugger type

trever was sloopy to didnt hit hard and pushed mike mutiple times and got countered cause he over used it he pushed mike where he wanted to be which was wasnt that George's favorite thing to do so your exposing yourself in making a point
    boxer type

thomas was a good boxer moved good
    boxer type

smith was the most aggressive slugger close range which he was faster then George by punches and punched with good tech
2nd style like George but with better tech and didnt push
    slugger type 2

oh and sense your using a dumb quote agian smith started hugging cause he had trouble landing shots he wanted to stop from getting ko he didnt just start off the match doing that like your trying to act like he tried then once he seen he couldnt land much he started hugging

why did you leave these details out why did you only look at power alone when that never beat mike your not talking to a dummy who never seen matches

name the people George beat like mike he fought ali was used angles when punching

he fought a outta shape joe who fought nothing like mike

larry was never ko like that after mike and still put on good matches you come on stop trying to expose flaws when your exposing yourself

he was outboxed by jim who punched him at random times with easy shots
