Both in their prime. Who would have too much firepower for whom?

Tyson would get off first and get off last. His speed moving in coupled with his elusiveness will have Joe back on his heels.
    Tyson gets the KO

You don't think Joe's chin stands up to the punishment?

    hells no.

Louis would have to get off first and well and not let off the gas. Tyson has a big chin advantage here.

I have to say, much as I love old Joe I don't think he can get past early Tyson.
I know he took a lot of punishment off of Schmeling before he went down but Tyson is in a different league.

Louis. IMO the only better heavyweight who ever lived was Ali and I think Tyson is in the bottom half of the top 10 all time. But I will repeat my standard line: Prime Tyson was capable of beating anyone who ever lived on a given night.

This would be a shootout. I think Louis would win. Mike might be faster, I think that's probably true, but I don't think that his very best punches land as quickly as Joe's did and I do mean in bunches. This type of fight is the hardest to predict but although Joe has fewer planes of attack he has more ways to get to the chin. I don't think prime Mike is anything like as elusive as he's made out to be against a fighter who is unafraid of him and he's certainly not about crowding. Tyson's expansive attacking style would work against him here.

"When have you seen a guy throw a right hand to the kidney, come up the middle with an uppercut, then throw the left hook?” was the question Angelo Dundee famously asked - the thing is, that's all very bad against Joe. Try hitting him with a right hand to the kidney and then coming up the middle with an uppercut, you'll be a spinning top trying to land those punches against Louis.

Styles favour Louis pretty big. The hesitance from me is nothing to do with styles, it's about Tyson's chin, which isn't tide-turning, but might keep him alive long enough to neaten up that offence in a fight or die comeback that could see Tyson scoring the early knockout, not Joe. But I'd pick Joe.

This would be a classic case of Joe Louis could do almost
    everything better than Tyson.....
But take the punishment from him.
And that would be the key to a Tyson victory
    prime vs prime.
Boxing, especially between two ATG's usually
ends with the fighter that has the ability to
weather the storm better being the winner.
I've seen Louis dropped by too many fighters
not close to Tyson in ability and firepower to have faith
that he'd be able to withstand Mike's assault.
Love Louis but Tyson is all wrong for him.

Mike goes lethal in the first round and floors Louis, who holds on for dear life. In the 2nd Joe gets straight-minded enough to use his more than formidable jab. Mike staggers him again, but in the 3rd Joe's jab is bothering the hell out of him, disrupting his groove. Joe does the smart thing, using the jab-hold-jab-try-the-right-hand technique. Mike isn't having much success on the inside, Joe is able to stifle his forward motion, the former is having a terrible time landing anywhere near flush. By the 5th Mike has dialed it way back and Louis is starting to score with the right hand. By the 7th Mike is starting all the clinches, to the point of being warned by the ref. Louis lands a huge right in the 8th, after a standing 8 Louis puts him down for good with an astonishingly heavy combination.

Mike was a h2h nightmare for most heavyweights but Louis boxed too good and hit too hard.

Joe could take some and answer back but I think Tyson could take his leverage away. Ii don't think he could keep taking clean shots. Mike could be pretty elusive moving in.

Tyson had better hand speed, footspeed, power, defense, chin, and was a fair bit bigger than Louis. You'd have to ask a lot of Louis to overcome these disadvantages.

    Handspeed and power is debatable.

    I agree.
Though Tyson may have hit a little harder. He doesn't match Louis with hand speed , and especially with punch creativity.
Tyson could get predictable as a fight dragged on.
    Louis wasn't.
