Tyson still had enough left in 2002 to, to get the KO versus Ruiz, in my opinion. And that is saying something as Ruiz is probably the most underrated heavyweight of the era. Boring as ****, but good and underrated.
Probably. This could be Tyson Botha all over again with Ruiz being far more careful than Botha was and making it to an ugly decision, or Tyson by late round KO.
I'd rather this was the 2003 Tyson who was in decent shape for his age, but the 2002 version still stops Ruiz in my book.
Agreed! Ruiz spent more time ballet dancing in the ring on his toes to make Johnson's body punches look like low blows. I've never seen a fighter rise on his toes to fool the ref into false low blows until I watched Ruiz. Kinda wish this fight would have happened because Tyson would have probably retired the Ruiz disease, permanently.
If Tyson didn't have him out of there inside 5 rounds i could see Ruiz finding a way to frustrate him and nick a controversial decision.
just the type of fight Ruiz would hate. A guy who is not going to fight any other fight but his own. Ruiz couldn't make him fight his fight, that is why he would lose it.
I remember seeing Johnny going down 2 times vs Golota and stopped in 1 by Tua, one was older the other version younger, both get KO'd by Tyson
