i agree with this, ruiz would have some early success but tyson would eventually catch him with a big shot ending the fight.
Already saw it against a guy with less speed, footwork and explosive power than Tyson - David Tua KO1 Ruiz. Tyson would be just the same.
In his entire career, Tyson stopped one guy past the 7th round. Jose Ribalta, in 1986. A TKO in the 10th. Tyson didn't KO anybody late. And Ruiz didn't get KOed late. If Ruiz gets past round six, he gets the win. In fact, in his entire post-prison career, if a Tyson fight entered the sixth round, Tyson lost. The sole exception being Brian Nielson, when the ref stopped the fight in the corner between rounds 7 and 8. Ruiz is tough and durable, and Mike Tyson showed nothing to suggest that he would manage to come up with a late KO against him. The longer this fight goes, the more likely Ruiz wins. :hat
i think ruiz would have won in 02 tyson was completely shot by then his legs were gone no stamina and he couldnt get his punches off if you watch the lewis fight in between rounds ronnie sheilds was telling him let your hands go tyson kept on replying i cant says it all really
At that stage in Tyson's career,he'd be dangerous for three rounds, tops. After that Ruiz would spoil his way to a clear points decision. There's no way, imo, that a 2002 version of Tyson would knock Ruiz out.
At this stage Ruiz has a chance of hugging his way to a decision, but if Tyson connects, which i think he would then it's over.
How about Ruiz got outboxed by all the faster better boxers he faced, smaller men than Tyson? How about Ruiz had been blasted in 1 by Tua? How about Tyson did Golota in 2 who would deserve a decision over Ruiz years later? Tyson was a faded force past 5 rounds, but Ruiz is a fighter made for him
Ruiz's tactics combined with Tyson's reactions. The deathly quiet man finally gets loud as Tyson manages the seemingly physical impossibility of biting off both Ruiz's ears and nipples at the same time in frustration.
When I try to form a mental picture of this fight, I keep getting flashbacks to the Tyson-Boneclutcher Smith fight. Tyson by decision.
theres no way in 2002 that tyson had the stamina to last 12 rounds i remember watching the golota fight in 2000 at the end of the second round just before golota quit i couldnt believe how tired tyson looked on his stool after his return to the ring after prison he was a 6 round fighter at the most at his peak he had no stamina problems whatsoever
I think Holy won the series and he'd taken too many beating by that stage of his career, more than Tyson
