You cannot possibly deny you hate Lewis Zakman. Everyone on the board knows as soon as any Lewis thread appears you are there with the "shaky chin" business. I have even seen you try to argue that Holy is better HW then Lewis - despite the H2H record. And a "decent" fighter shows how absurd your opinion is - you dont have the longevity and success in the sport that Lewis had by merely being a decent fighter. At worst you would classify him as an excellent fighter - if you were honest.:yep
Sparring means nothing. in 1992 Tyson KO's Lewis in similar fashion to when Lewis KO's Mike Weaver. As for 1989 Lewis, I mean common Tyson is undisputed champ and Lewis starting out as a pro, are you on crack or something.:nut
Tough one - in fact I am going to sit on the fence as I can find ways for both to win. Tyson slightly past his peak whilst Lennox was little more than a Euro level fighter. Peak Tyson '87 ish vs peak Lewis '99 ish would be Lewis 10/10.
tyson likely would ko lewis. you must remember lewis was still evolving. thats why mccall knocked him out. steward stepped in and the rest was history. but tyson by 1992 was a headhunter so lewis could wind up outboxing al la douglas.
Back in 1992 Lewis was green, still good, but not what he was around 2000, its a tough fight to call, and you could make an arguement for either, lets face it, Tyson's competition was poor, and Lewis's style would always trouble Tyson whether or not he is green or in his prime, but Lewis might have been too green to win Tyson at that stage, although Lewis is 100x the fighter Douglas was. Prime for Prime i say Lewis, in 1992, we cant say what Tyson would have been like, but if he'd have responded well to defeat then id lean towards Tyson. Prime for Prime i feel Lewis and Holyfield would both beat Tyson.
Occasionaly Tyson didn't knock guys out in the first round you know. 92 is about the time that the scales start to come back towards an even fight IMO. Prior to that, Tyson takes it easily. Around 92, who knows? It's a pick em fight IMO. Lewis far more reckless than he ended up, but more exciting. Tyson had 2 good fights with Ruddock, Lewis just smacked him in 2 rounds. Doesn't prove much, except Tyson wasn't this raw meat eating KO machine that people like to remember. Any time after 92, it becomes more and more in Lewis's favour. Anyway, this is 16 years ago. Why aren't all Tyson/Lewis threads in classic boxing?
