Didnt he go out there, take one look at how they were performing sparring and cry off with a hand injury?

It was McClean who was related.

    Cousins or something like that.

Yep, I think it was Bert Cooper who he saw training and he quit.

Did McLean ever do any boxing training or was he just a big bugger?

Nice powers of deduction, I didn't mention a name because I like to keep my anonymity as complete as possible on the net, but yeah I was referring to Sykes. Complete nutjob on many, many levels.

He did fight for the British HW title, and gave a decent account of himself. I take your point about fighting for the title being 'doing something' but some people talk about him like he could have gone all the way when he only had 8 pro fights against fairly mediocre opposition. Personally I think someone like Bruno would have seen him off in double quick time.

yeah he was a complete nut job by all accounts i know people that knew him and they said he was, i think fighting for the british HW title is something, but i feel he went as far as he could, he would have smashed mcclean and shaw in a round, and bruno would have beaten him in a round, so, tyson v mcclean , got to laugh ..

Tyson in under 10 seconds. Tyson steps into his first two or three punch combo and its over. Lenny would see it coming but couldn't stop it.

An absolute prime mike tyson would hammer almost anyone within a round or two.

McLean wouldn't throw a second punch.

i'd slap any friend of mine that suggested otherwise.

the differene between almost any boxer and any big old lump that trains for fun or indeed, fancies themselves as a 'hardman' is huge.....im a 20st doorman and i train boxing and mma with a fw of my mates who are, respectively, very good at mma..and the other is a very good boxer. i am under no illusions. i train for fitness and fun and the difference between me hitting the pads or bags and my boxer friend is night and day....i could dedicate a big chunk of time and perspiration to training and still not have the snap, the timing, the almost casual 9to an untrained onlooker) power that my mate, who has been training boxing at a good level since a young age, has got....anyone who fancies themselves as being a bit handy should hang their ego on a coatpeg and go train with their local boxers or mma guys and they will surely recognize in short time that their street smarts, power or perceived ability is, in fact, a drop in the ocean compared to what dedicated trainers have......

nb..the guys i train with are only local level guys, so i can only imagine what a fully trained, fully fit pro must be like...jeeesus, it would be like being surrounded if one opened up on you!"!
