This content is protected Incredible high intensity sparring session between two champions. McCall does really well here, but Tyson has him out on his feet a few times. It seems very appaerently to me that a fight night Tyson would've finished him. Great effort by both, legendary foootage.
When did you think McCall was "out on his feet" in this video? I didn't see him in any trouble but maybe I missed something. Tyson might have finished McCall in a real fight or he might not. Tyson at the time of this video was a disciplined fighter, preparing for a big fight. McCall on the other hand might have been out partying all night in AC and just arrived before the sparring session began. You can't tell a lot from a sparring session, especially when one fighter is preparing for a title fight and the other is just there to get a check from sparring. Different motivations, different intensity, and different preparation.
At 2:45. Tyson rocks him, and changes the momentum of the sparring session. In a real fight, he'd look ready to go right there. McCall goes from holding his ground, to survival mode, clinching and trying to stay balanced and calm.
McCall wasn't out on his feet, but maybe with smaller gloves and no headgear he would be. Hard to say. McCall gets in some quite tasty punches of his own, though. Nice footage.
He went from being able to control and tame Tyson to catching up to his positon with slow pivots and falling over from a missed jab. He started giving up distance, and holding on uncomfortably in the clinch. Despite all that he did really well to weather the punch, not giving it away. https://streamable.com/v68dx
So what? Holyfield did the same thing. https://streamable.com/15k1x Is your point built on anything more substantial than this? Or is that it?
