Ron Lyle by KO in 6. It would be a back and forth see-saw battle with both guys hitting the cavas early but Ron Lyle never knew how to quit ... and Tyson was an expert at it. It would all but too overwhelming for Tyson. Tyson would drop Ron early a couple of times but he would keep getting up and would fire back at Tyson even harder. By round 3 Tyson would be dropped for the first time and that would be the beginning of the end. Lyle hit nearly as hard as Foreman and was used to taking alot of punishment. Tyson just wouldn't have the will or the courage to survive what Ron Lyle brought to the ring. :bart
    What do you guys think?

Lyle puts up a somewhat decent effort but leaves the arena on a stretcher when it all comes to an end.

saying that Tyson was a "expert" at quitting just isn't correct.

he did have some quit in him no doubt, however, saying he was a expert shows me that you have misjudged him.

each time he was stopped he was pounded before he stopped, that's not a person that is a expert at quitting.

Regardless, Lyle vs Tyson I think would be a great match, I would take Tyson because of the speed factor but who really knows, I know Lyle in his prime would make it a war for however short or long it lasted.

Foreman and Shavers who were much more powerful than Tyson, couldn't even do that.

Speed kills and it's the punch you don't see that causes the most damage. Meaning combos. Course much of this is clearly beyond you.

Some people think that if you weren't scared of Tyson then you'd beat him.

That's a vastly simplistic way of looking at it and also untrue. Of course you'd also need strength, toughness, decent power and skills along with bravery.

Lyle sure as hell wouldn't be remotely scared of Tyson considering his background and the way he got in the face of the more menacing Foreman. Ron also hit hard, had some skills and was tough.

That being said Tyson was faster, had more talent and a pretty good chin and I reckon it'd be a Tyson-Ruddock like give and take brawl with Tyson always in front (which if we're honest is the only times he ever won being in front unless you count his disgraceful display against Botha which is technically a come from behind win though) and landing enough for a late stoppage or UD.

People saying Tyson would have Lyle leaving on a stretcher are just trotting out Tyson cliché's and boogeyman stories. Lyle was a tough SOB at his best and isn't laying down for anyone if he can help it.

Ron Lyle feared no man, but, Tyson's faster hands would prevail. Lyle labored to win a close decision over Bonavena in his hometown of Denver.

Ron Lyle was a pretty good fighter who started in his 20s. Tyson was a superstar who started in his teens. No contest.

Tyson beats any 70's heavyweight except, MAYBE Ali and Holmes.

Lots of dog in Tyson however speed indeed kills. Lyle although a huge right hand puncher was not known for his hand speed. I also do not think Lyle had the endurance to surge strongly late. Certainly if Lyle survived the first 5 rounds and was hitting Mike things would get interesting mid fight. Pick here is Tyson early.

If Lyle landed cleanly it might stagger Tyson. Look, Ruddock unloaded bombs on Tyson in both fights and Tyson despite getting staggered walked through them. You need more than toughness and power to dent Tyson's chin. Lyle's a nice slugger but he doesn't have the tools to win against someone with Tyson's pedigree.
